Default 2009 Ram crew cab trans temp while towing.

What should your trans temp be while towing. I was towing my boat down the highway last week and was watching the trans temp and it was 220-230. By the way it is on a 2009 crew big horn with a hemi 2 wd and i was in tow mode. Sorry this is the first dodge I have owned and i am very impressed with it so far I came from goverment motors gm for short.

I tow from Edmond to lake keystone. And was just wondering what the temp should be by the way what kind of toys do you have. My boat weighs in at about 5000 pounds what does the toy hauler loaded weigh in at and what is your opion on your truck for towing.

We have 3 quads. Honda 400 EX and 2 250 EX. Haven't weighed it loaded yet but hauler itself is around 5,000 sorry been tooo hot to ride lately so Im rusty as to the weight. And me personally hate the mileage I get with this one 8.9-8.5. My 06 got 11-13 and with the coil springs it feels like it sways in the a-- a little more than leaf springs.

Highest I saw mine get was 181 on a 600 mile trip, towing a 3500lb boat, 5 people and all their gear. (2wd hemi slt with 3.21 gears) 65-75 MPH on average.

Highest my RCSB tranny temp ever got was around 180 while towing up CO mountain passes. OAT was in 70's and my RV is around 5500lbs.

hey guys, i asked my teacher this the other day after wondering myself. I go to Wyotech so my instructor is pretty reputable. he said your in the clear up to the high 200's. I usually tow about 2 times a month...300 mile round trip with about a 6,000 lb load. the highest i've seen is 230 hammering up the mountain out of scranton PA.
