Default Question about sunrrof

Hello i´m brand new in this forum and a Dodge driver from germany, i have a question about my sunroof in my 1500 Ram QC, i have my Truck now for 5 days and the Dealer told me the sunroof will not open so wide as i´m thinking? If someone of you have a QC with sunroof and could mesure how wide it will be when it´s full open, would be great. I can also move the sunshade around 3 inch back forward when the roof is fully opend, i think this is not normal.

Welcome Frank, I'll bet a Ram in Germany is quite rare. Please do tell about owning one in your country.

The sunroof glass does not open the entire width of the opening. I had an 05 Ram and it would open the full width with a second push of the open button. But this appears to be normal on the 09. I had asked the very same question and the other trucks checked were the same.

On the sunshade, it will open the full width of the opening but you can slide it back forward no farther than the front of the glass, which is about 3". That is the way it should work. If you let the shade open itself with the window, that is where it would be after opening, aligned with the front edge of the glass. The extra movement rearward from that position is where the glass would be if it opened the entire width of the opening.

It does appear as though the sunroof glass could move the rest of the way into the roof but it does not. I'm not sure why but everything you are asking is the same on my truck and a couple of other trucks that were checked. Will have to look at a 2010 to see if they are the same. The 09 Service Manual says that it should open the whole way with the second push of the button just like my 05 Ram so not sure why this one does not. The Owners Manual does not say anything about fully opening in it though.

Hello Topgun, thank you for quick answer, i could not believe this but if ít´s the same at your truck it will be "normal", i have a friend that drives a 300C Chrysler and the sunroof looks 100% like the Ram one also in the dimensions, this one opens like it should be, can´t understand this?

Yes it´s a little bit special to drive a Ram in germany, i don´t know how many Ram´s are excisting from every age in hole germany but i know a lot of people who are big fans and owners of US cars from different make.
In germany the Ram is not avaliable from the official Dodge dealer, they are all imports with loss of their guarantie, we have to make a private insurance for the new cars. In germany the most "normal" people today say it´s crazy in this times to buy a car like this (the fuel price in germany is very high), but every one is watching around when a car like this coming along the street, it´s so beautiful and so different from the small euro cars.
Since i can remember i was faszinated from the US cars also some of my friends, i´m driving now for around 23 years us cars from different makes and have so much fun and good feeling with them, the new Ram is great and makes me a happy man.
To get special parts like for the new ram is not so easy (or very expensive), so i always try to find us dealers who will send parts worldwide, to get a Ram streetlegal is also not so easy (there are specialists who do this for customers), you need special documents about headlights emissions turnsignals and much much more then the car get a geman title and you can drive with them.

Sorry for my " not so perfect english" , Frank

Wow, a RAM in Germany, now that's a sight I'd like to see. I was over in Berlin a couple of years ago and saw a Chevy Suburban that had been lifted and rode on 33' mud tires. The thing stuck out like a sore thumb compared to all the BMWs and Benzs. Like Frank's everyone and their brother was stopping in the street and staring at the Chevy and completly ignoring the fire engine red Ferrari which probably cost $120K US that was just behind it. I'd be interested in hearing on how easy it is to find a parking spot over there for something as big as the RAM.

Oh, and sorry for dragging your post off topic. Wish I could help here, but the sunroof is one of the few options I didn't get.

I will post a pic at he weekend from my daily parking situations, i bet you could not believe how much smaller eveything is in germany, not only parking is a little problem also the streets are not made for full size cars from the USA, i can drive eveywhere with my Truck but there is not so much space on streets in the citys like in the USA. I´m happy that i´m welcome from you all in this forum, it´s interesting for me to have contact to people in the USA, the informations we have in germany are not so good also recalls and things like this are not so easy to get, cause the RAM is not an official model in germany.
I had a problem with my last Truck a 2007 Ram Sport, The scanner gave te information oilpressure to low, i found the reason after a long search on a US homepage with service information and recalls, it was only a update necesarry and had never a problem with, the german specialsits was wondering about this information and from where i have this info, yes it´s not so easy in germany.
