Install factory fog light kit
#21
Fog Lights Part Number
New to site. Only had my 2009 Ram for three weeks now and just installed the fog light kit. I agree, cut out the plastic block out cover. Much nicer look. The part number of the kit is 82211694AB. If you get it at the dealer, they take about two weeks. Least mine did. All I have to do is take it in to have them programmed, which the service manage said he would take care of it.

So I installed the fog lamp kit, but when I took the truck to the dealer they are having a hard time programing the truck to turn them on. Ive been told twice by the dealer that the truck software is newer then the Starscan unit software they have. The dealer scanner tool can see them and there connected correctly, just cant get them to program.
The truck is an 08/08 build, hard to believe that there scanner tool software is older then that.
I'm thinking that I may need to try a different dealer. Anyone else have this problem?

I just found out after buying the kit that my front plate will block about 1/3 of each fog light.

The issue that you are having with your dealer is that they havent went to corp. and updated your VIN with the LPN (fog light) code. Starscan also has to be used wifi in the dealership to update your truck on the database before it will accept the programming.
Btw. I skipped these baby fog lamps and did the whole front end conversion. Happy with the results. But, be prepared to spend 700$ on the stuff to convert it, and another $49.95 @ the dealership to activate them in your truck. (because of the high-beams kill fog lamp feature the computer uses)

I left the plastic peice in but cut holes in it, looks a lot cleaner, but had to do lots of trial and error in cutting... At the time i installed the tow hooks too, again, just cut the plastic to go around them. I've seen a few installed by dealer, and they just trash the plastic thing...
Devile
sent you a pm.

flatlander - got it...
Also wanted to add, as far as I know, the computer control on these trucks is intese... without the computer knowing that it has foglights, it won't even look for the switch to activate the wires it doesn't htink it has installed to be powered... That is why dealer needs to program... Someone should get into 'hacking' these new systems, i can only imagine what you could do with the truck with the software know how...
