Default Steering seems wierd

Ok I installed a lift and level kit, and had an allignment. I find the truck drifts all over the road unless I hold the steering wheel super tight.

Your caster is effected when you alter the ride height of a vehicle. I am not even sure if its adjustable on your truck with or without some sort of kit. If the caster has been effected, it usually causes the steering to be very touchy, and sensitive, causes wonder, and makes it very sensitive to road changes, which could explain your drifting all over the place. This is mainly true with equal caster on both sides, but it being too negative.

The fact is leveling kits are a cheap option, and they usually don't take into account these sort of some what critical things.

Talk to an alignment shop, hopefully they can adjust the caster and get it right. What you may wind up with, is them putting the caster way out of the spec that a stock truck would normally have, but it fixes the problem. They will need to play around. Usually, the rule of thumb is add some positive caster and it should improve the symptoms your describing.

Yeah hopefully your not using a Mavis Discount Tire, with the "HawkEye" alignment machines, they are junk. Ive never had that machine do a proper alignment on any vehicle Ive ever owned. Go to a firestone, and always get the print out sheet.

Get that caster fixed.

Good Luck!

Thanks, I have a printout somewhere that I will try to find, in the mean time I think I will bring it back and explain the symptoms and see what they can do.
