Default New Computer

Took my truck in Monday for oil change and RRT's. They gave me a rental car because they said it would take more than just a couple hours to do. I got a call from the service dept last night saying that they are having trouble with the flash update. The tech was on the phone with i think she said STAR?. So this morning she calls me back and says i need a whole new computer. Its on back order so i have to wait at least a week. I have a CC with dual exhaust and no fuel saver light. Curios if new computer will update light.

Default Why?

Did the dealer tell you what was wrong with the old computer? Why do you need a new one? Thanks.

Once in a great while when dong updates computers crash. Not any ones fault it just happens.Thougyht I'd be in the same boat.Mine hung up twice doing updates and then finally took it but took it slow.I have had vehicles come in for updates and right in the middle have the computer crash and die.Royal pain for everyone involved but it happens.

Not sure the build date of truck but definatlly before 11/08. Driving around in the dakota they gave me is driving me nuts. I really miss my truck. I dont know how i drove Rangers the last 8 years, but what a difference. Also why should it take 2 weeks to get a computer? Are that many people getting computers changed out?

2 weeks is nothing compared to the huge parts back log with the bankruptcy and buy out etc.Huge mess.GM I hear is in the same boat.Had a guy with a 08 GM something said he needed a battery under warranty and it was under national back order.Suppliers did not get paid and weren't shipping anything.

sounds like it. probably using the the new WiTECH (full wireless scantool) and lost signal or something during flash. or battery voltage too low. we had a dead car in our shop cause of that.

anyways, sorry to hear that. i was out of my truck for a week last month, and in a PT. i really really wanted to run that damn thing into a wall.
