Vortech Supercharger Interest
I would be very surprised if Chrysler outsourced the firmware (and that is what we are talking about here) for the PCM. This type of software doesn’t “evolve” much other than ongoing upgrades and, as such, is not a huge project. Further, it doesn’t *have* to be in a high level language, it could likely be done at machine code level as is often the case with I/O (hardware intensive) apps. I do not claim to know what the exact case is for the Chrysler PCM is, no one I’m aware of has had opportunity decompile one. I can tell you it is not inherently complex and, as pointed out, is merely a matter of economic return. Where are all the hackers who do it for sport when you need them
It's the only thing that does matter. I would bet that the language the Challenger PCM is written in is the same language the Rams is. If someone could read and modify that code, why couldn't they do it for the Ram. They can but the demand currently isn't greater than the cost. It's all economics, why do you think the aftermarket has lagged behind on parts for the Rams when the Chevys and Ford have been saturated?
It's not that it can't be done, it's just not profitable yet.

I am not sure what you are getting at or why we are going back and forth.
You do know that the Diablosport reprograms the PCM right? It is not simply a chip that plugs in.

i am very interested in a supercharger.
some of my concerns have already been documented... but my biggest is paying what could end up being $7,000-$8,000+ after tax and instalation for a item that will void my lifetime waranty and not even provide 500 hp
at $7,000 your looking at around $70 per hp... so since i wouldnt pay $700 for 10 hp.. i wont pay $7,000 for 100...
in fact by the time you upgrade the tranny to handle to additional 100 hp your cost could easily run $10,000
I would/could pay the 10 grand if the product is worth it... but again... all of that and not hit 500 hp????
so unless they can get that number around 600-650+ hp... i will hold out...

If Vortech chooses to create a super charger for the Ram, this will create enough demand for Diablosport to come out with programs for it. As it stands now, Diablosport does not see enough interest in the '09 Ram programming to fund it.
I know exactly what Diablosport does and the products they offer.
I asked for claims to back up your statements like:
This is what I meant when i said we would have a tuning option soon:

I should have stated it a little more clear earlier to prevent all the confusion you have.

Check out the advertised performance claims. Since the Ram 5.7L and the Challenger 5.7L put out different amounts of power, the PCM has to be different.
The PCM itself may be the same, but the stock tune each is running is very different.
Diablosport is close to having a product for us too.

Let's say you're a JAVA programmer. You may have two programs that do similar but different things. Now just because these were written by different people, does that mean you can't read or improve on it? Same goes true for the PCMs. If Diablo can modify one, they can modify both.
Yes but the source code "firmware" is probably the same. How else do the Dodge Techs use the same "PC" to update the PCMs.

The TUNE is different for each vehicle.
Diablo can get into the PCM, but they said Dodge changed a lot this year, inside the PCM. They added VCT/VVT to the engine and Diablo needs time to dyno tune and perfect their tunes.
Why are we still arguing?
