Default '09 megacab

I've been reading about the air conditioning being inadequate in the early megacabs. Does anyone know if Dodge fixed this problem? Any '09 MC owners out there? Plus any ideas about waiting for the new MC to come out versus getting a good deal on an '09 now? Thanks for the help.

No such thing as a 4th gen megacab. The 4th gen has a Crewcab version, AC is fine in that.

Actually, the Dodge website shows pics of a 4th Gen Mega Cab. Looks pretty sweet... We'll have to wait to see one in person. Hopefully they'll be on dealer lots soon, but I've heard they are not coming out until 2010.5 so 6 more months maybe?

There will be a MegaCab in the 4th Gen RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks. The QuadCab is being replaced by the larger CrewCab found in the 1500s.

There is not a MegaCab in the 4th Gen RAM 1500 Half Ton, it is now called the CrewCab. Crew is smaller than Mega.

The 1500s are model year 2009

The 2500 and 3500 4th gen will be 2010.5 model year like already stated.

Just wanted to clear that up for ya's so we're all on the same page.

Now the question to the OP is; are your refering to the 2009 RAM 1500 or the 2009 RAM 2500/3500 which are still 3rd Gen?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm referring to the '09 2500 which is still 3rd generation.

In regards to your original question, I have driven several 3rd gen diesel Mega Cabs and never had an issue with the AC. I was in MI and drove and rode in one all the way to Moab Utah in early summer and never had a problem. Perhaps its only an issue if you live in Phoenix or the southwest US. Most vehicle's AC setups could be considered inadequate down there though.

As for the AC setups on the 4th gen Rams, I'm very pleased. Its pretty powerful and cools my crew cab down pretty quickly. I live in St. Louis (not exactly southwest US) but it does get pretty hot here in the summer. No complaints of an inadequate AC from me. Good luck.

I live in TX and its been 100+ for about 3 straight months and I've had no complaints of the AC on the '09 Crew Cab.

Drove an '06 CTD Mega Cab for 2 1/2 years and never had an issue with the a/c. In fact the kids often complained about how cold it was in the back. Not sure about the southwest (always enjoyed the low humidity) but it gets around 100 here with humidity in the 80-90% sometimes. Now the heater in winter is another story.

okay. thanks. I got this idea from a poster on here that said his kids were always complaining of it being too hot in the back of his '06 MC and he figured it was because the MC had the same air conditioner system as a regular cab.
