FYI.....igolf and jaybrant are one in the same. Don't know how I got two accounts on here. Anyway...........

I just want to bump this up and again ask if anybody tried just taking the resonators out and doing nothing else. Pros? Cons?

I think the resonator keeps the exhaust under raps while idling, the factory exhaust sounds great when you really need it, just enough for a truck. If you want double the sound of the factory you should go with the mufflex 14 inch. 18 is pretty much what you got as far as I have heard so far, unless people are lying to me .

the 24" mufflex is basically stock. The 18" is more agressive but not pushing it and the 14" is almost obnoxious. You can not drive the truck around and judge how loud it is by the interior sound because out the back it is much louder than you think. When I did my 18" mufflex me and my buddy drove it around to make sure it was all tight and it sounded a little quieter inside than I thought it should have. Then I had my bud take it and do some wot drive-bys by my place and it was definitely louder outside the truck. But it is exactly what I was looking for, you can still baby it around and keep it quiet with no problem, and the sound is there whenever you decide to put your foot down.

I installed a side swept Gibson exhaust and removed the resonator and it sounds perfect with no drone. It's slightly louder than stock, which is what I wanted. Today I removed the extra muffler (resonator) at the end and was nervous that it would be to loud or have problems when the mds kicked in but it turned out exactly the way I wanted.
