Default Exhaust question

Hi,

2009 Laramie Crew Cab.......

I love the sound of the factory exhaust but would like it to be just a little bit louder. Maybe twice as loud as it currently is. I don't want it to be obnoxious.

Has anyone just tried removing the resonators and see what that does?

Thanks.

I have the Mufflex/Magnaflow 18" muffler and it would be good for you.

I think I might be leaning towards the Magnaflow 24. I'm afraid the 18 would be louder than what I want.

Is there a difference between Mufflex and Magnaflow? I think what I'm seeing is that the Magnaflows are a lot cheaper??

Same thing, Mufflex is a kit that uses a magnaflow muffler which will bolt right in the stock location. The magnaflow as you know is just a muffler and will require welding and a tube bender to fab it in.

These trucks keep noise out very well so i dont think you will have any problems, and if you like loud music then you def. wont hear it

I just just removed my Mufflex 14" magnaflows and put the stock sport one back on. The retro was great, made installation in your driveway at 20 minute process. These guys do a great job with the kit. However, I started to seriously dislike the magnaflow tone and what the MDS sounded like in fuel saver mode after a month and Magnaflows are definately not as deep as the Borla's ( compared to my 05 F150 ). This is just my opinion but my new truck basically sounded like a 1975 chevy, I may have been happier with the 24" but will keep the stocker on for now. Strange how it also feels like it has more launch off the line.

well I just put on the mufflex 18 about an hour ago and it is exactly what I was looking for. It is just a hair louder inside the truck but you can still carry on a conversation with no problem at all. I would describe the noise inside to be comparable to the stock muffler but only a deeper sound, there is no need to turn up the radio to drown out the exhaust noise inside because honestly it is not much louder. Outside is another story, it is a deeper and more aggressive tone than stock. With the windows down I could hear it bouncing off the buildings going down mainstreet but that was only because I left it in first gear. Like I have said before...it is exactly the sound i was looking for with seriously no change to the interior noise.

it is a magnaflow universal muffler that mufflex modifies so it will replace your stock muffler, and you can do that yourself in your driveway no problem...otherwise it is the magnaflow model 12288. You have two options, you can buy just the muffler from a dealer and take it to a shop to have them install it or you can go here:
http://www.mufflex-performance.com/2009_1.html
Mufflex is selling it for 239.50 plus S&H.
I would recommend getting it from mufflex since they include everything you need to do it yourself (minus the hand tools) and it is very easy.

Has anyone tried the Magnaflow/Mufflex without the resonators? I've been thinking of taking them out.
