They should have at least given the R/T a slightly different body style/trim than the rest of the sport packages. Something to make it stand out besides a little badge that anyone can out and slap on their rides.

Now Im not saying it doesn't look good on some or that it doesn't belong on some, if you want to spend the $$$ for the 4.10's and loose converter then by all means throw that R/T badge on there. But for me its either an accurate advertisement of what you have or nothing at all.

The R/T is more of an upgraded Sport than it really is a SLT. Of course a Sport is really an upgraded SLT, so you kinda see where they fall in line. So, what makes an R/T and R/T? Well, there are four key things to the R/T, and only three of them are performance.

1. Appearance: The R/T is a Sport with a color matched TRX grille and the snap-on R/T badge. Other than that, R/Ts look exactly like Sports. They've got no other badges other than the one on the grille, inside or out. The R/T is also limited to three colors: Black, White, and Red.

2. Cab Options: The R/T is a regular cab only truck. The Sport can be bought in Regular Cab, Quad Cab, or Crew Cab. Obviously the lack of Quad and Crew Cabs save on weight, thus helping the R/T's performance numbers.

3. Torque Converter: The R/T has a different torque converter than any other HEMI. What exactly it does compared to the other torque converters is beyond me. It's interesting that Dodge has never called it a performance torque converter, they just say it's a loose torque converter. I asked the parts guy at my local Dodge dealership about the torque converter and he looked at them for the RAM. I have no doubt he really didn't know how to look for what he was looking for, but he said the computer was only showing a single listing for torque converters when it came to the transmission mated to the 5.7 HEMI.

4. Rear End Gears: All the other RAMs have various options between three gears: 3.21, 3.55, and 3.92 with LSD. The R/T is the only RAM that came factory with 4.10 gears and the LSD.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for clarifing War Horse. When I went to by my truck I did not see any literature pertaining to R/T Ram Trucks and the sales person made no mention of it either. Not that it really mattered,I was very happy with the truck that I got.Any options that is not on my truck can always be added on later.
Thanks Sam
