Default uconnect - cannot view my mp3 files from USB

I have loaded music/playlist from CDs onto my HDD withou a problem. But, I cannot get the mp3s from the USB to show up on the HDD. It goes thru the upload (0-100%) then says it is complete. Then I try to check the HDD/playlists, and nothing is there. I have tried a few different USB thumb drives to see if that is the problem. I don't know what else to do. I have searched Google and this forum for an answer, but nobody seems to have the same issue. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Check how much space you have on the hard drive before you try to load them then check after and if it goes up by the amount you are loading then you just have too go a hunting and find those critters. It seems kind complicated to me that My Gig stuff, I just like the phone part. I listen to Satellite all the time.

MyGig only supports import of standard MP3 file format. Many people have their PC set to use other formats - MP4, AU, OGG. It also doesn't understand Playlist formats in the same sense as iTunes or WMP or other - only treats all MP3 in specific Directory as "Playlist". Make sure you are sending "standard" MP3 only.

Beyond that, the best info is found at:
Unofficial MyGig site

I put the MP3s files in a folder with the band name on it. I do not put playlists on the USB thumb drive. They are definitely MP3s. I have tried to load just MP3s without the folders. I have only put about 2 CDs onto the HDD, and it says I have used about half of the 30GB (for some reason).

Any other ideas? Thanks

The folder name on your USB thumb drive becomes a playlist by that same name after the MyGIG imports it. It should import any MP3 music files that are in that folder to it at the same time, especially if it shows a progress bar and looks like it is taking several minutes to transfer. The music files are going somewhere on the MyGIG. If they were not in the proper MP3 format I would guess that the MyGIG would return an error message when you first try to do the transfer and say something like "no files found". Apparently it is not doing that.

As someone else suggested look at the before and after space available on the MyGIG before you attempt a transfer and see if it changes. Remember, the MyGIG application software, navigation database and a few other things also reside on the MyGIG HDD, so that's part of the reason it shows it half full.

What I like is the radio can burn a cd in 5 minutes. I have loaded like 50 and till have 23 gigs of space left and the radio takes like 4 gigs for whatever. I wonder what they are burning them as MP3 and I wonder the rate...the music sounds good and if you leave it and just hit copy it puts it in its own playlist under the album name. The VR button will alow you to access music, I thought it only worked for the phone. Another weird thing it says the REN radios will not upload phone books from phones using the download choice but mine did. Supposedly only the NAV or RER radios will do that. I bought mine from Ebay I think there might be some mods to the hd or something.

I have to get a thumb drive and see if I can get them to load.
I guess I will put them all in one folder and Call it some easy name for VR to recognize.
Will post if it works for me when I get one. Maybe your stick is too big? What size do they accept? I wanted to buy the biggest one, my daughter will need one for school anyway.

I've never had any problems loading MP3s.

You may want to also check how your mp3 files are "tagged". I have to bump back a version (from 1.4 -> 1.3) to get mygig to access them properly through the "album" & "artist" menus.
