Default Wheels, 17 vs 20

I have the stock ST 17" steel wheels and want to get nicer ones.

Has anyone gone from 17" to 20" wheels, or vice versa?

Did the ride change?
For the better or worse?

Thanks,
Scott

I had the 17 inch stock steel wheels and upgraded to the Kumho Ecsta STX KL12 Tires 285/45R/20 on some Smart Muscle SM10... Chrome SRT/Viper replica rims... The ride changed alittle not much... My tires have a decent amount of meat on the side walls... They are the same height as the stock tires and have a better load and speed rating... I am happy with the look but I only have 100 or so miles on the tires, so I do not have an indepth veiw of any tread and wear issues...

from past experience i would expect the ride to be a little firmer.
stock height tires on 20s still have a fairly big sidewall so it wont be like a really low profile tire.
i wouldnt hesitate to make the swap.
(my sport came with 20s stock and i like its ride just fine)

Just curious. What size are the stock 17" tires?

Not a huge change but going from 20 to 17" definitely made it "softer" of course I have 35's now.

If you go with larger diameter tires, like the stock ones on the 20s, you will raise your effective gear ratio basically one step.
