Diablo should have there tuner worked out by then. The sluggishness off the line is due to the gobs of Torque Management that we have. The tuner should take care of most of it. The guys at Diablo say that there is a delay timer in there that keeps the wot a/f at stoich for almost 2 seconds after you floor it. I know for a fact that they have been doing this since atleast 2000. I have data logged it myself on a 2000 Ram. The rate at which the TB blades is also regulated. It's not like a cabled TB where you get a 1:1 ratio between your foot and the blades. Also, under low speed acceleration a great deal of timing is pulled and the gradually put back in as speed increases. On my 2000 the stock tune pulled ~12* when flooring it from a standstill, and usually around 10* at shift points. The timing seemed to come back faster after a shift than it did from punching it from a stop.
I would hope that Diablo holds true to their word (7 days ago they said 10-14 days) and spend my money there. It is something that will improve the driveability and enjoyment of your truck after the grudge match is over. Its not like your gonna be squirting nitrous on your morning commute.

Default Nitrous

The nitrous is very tempting but I would not be able to hide it if it were temporary. I have a buddy tha owns a local speed shop and said he would hook it up for the night just so I could have some laughs without my brother knowing. I tihnk I would rather go with the diablo and see how it works out. I already planned on losing the spare tire and possibly the tailgate.
My brother is very aware of the options he needs to turn off and diable on his truck but he has never been down a track and I am hoping his nervousness at the line gets him sleeping. Keep the tips coming, i'm huntin down a Tundra!!!!!

Either way, its gonna be close. I doubt either one of you id gonna walk the other. I know Hemi rom has stated he's beat tundras before, but he's never raced a RCSB tundra. Ive beaten 2 09 rams pretty bad, but ive never raced a rcsb ram either. Ive read double cab tundras taking down rams and vise versa so its would seem like its a drivers race. You guys got a little more power, we have a better transmission and come with 4.30 rear ends. He is a lot heavier than you though. Our sweet spot is 40+mph.

Being that your brother has never been down the track thats a huge advantage in your part as you know how nerve racking it is your first time. That and the probability you will tree him at the light. I remember my first time i waited for the green and ended up with 1.3XX reaction time. Horrible.

The TRD intake is crap. Only good thing TRD makes is the super charger and their sway bars.

Go before and test, is your truck quicker in tow mode/haul mode or regular, ( has firmer shifts and different shift points, also according to manual has different gear ratio) is it faster if you manual shift or leave it in drive, keep us tuned!

Do the free stuff....

Dump the spare, gate, jack, tonneau (if you have a hard one). Weight reduction is free and has a direct impact. Also loose a few PSI out of the rear tires. Use the 2nd shift start thing (basically start in 2nd, no it will not really be in 2nd but I am told it makes a difference, just remember to hit 3rd manually). Turn on tow/haul as described. Bring RPMs up to about 3K at the line, release brake and mash the gas.

Took the truck down to the levy last night and practiced take offs. 3k is way too high as it breaks the tires loose at the line before I release the brake. When I released the brake it spun for about a second then bogged down and then took off. I even had it in tow mode and ESP off. This TQ managament is the pits.

Default New stuff ordered

SO I am finally ordering the parts tonight. I am ordering the Magnaflow 24 and a new magnaflow y pipe. (I need to know part #'s on these if you have them. They asked me diameters and I had no clue.) I have heard several people say the Y pipe is very restrictive. In addition I ordered the Diablo so hopefully within 2 weeks I have a good idea of what this thing is capable of. I am now debating on the AFE,Mopar cold air intake, or just dropping in a AFE Pro Dry.
I am hoping with these mods it makes for a close race on the 20th.

The track is quite sticky from all the other cars leaving and the traction compound they spray down. I remember my first trip down the track. I was in my Lightning and had no idea what I was doing. I waited until the green lit and put it to the mat. Spun the tires through second gear. Guys were coming up to me afterwards telling me it looked liked a top fuel dragster doing a burnout.

Another tip to remember, not sure if it's been mentioned, leave on the last yellow unless it's a pro tree and then leave as soon as you see the lights. You may even need to leave between the second and third yellows with all the torque management we have.
