Dodge and the dealer keep sending me coupons, so far I got one free one and 3 at about $16 per oil change. For that price it'll keep getting changed around 3K.

The oil change light interval so far is about 2700 miles (plus/minus). MY normal run is about 15 miles, includes 50 percent or so freeway, and the oil does get up to normal temperature. If it's going to be this interval, it'll be dinosaur always.... I don't know what algorhythm they use for the interval. I need to check build date and see if there is a later flash. I wonder if this also affects the oil change algo? As others have noted, that original filter was really on there!

p.s. - love this truck! (5.7, CC, 2wd, Laramie, 20's, 3.92LS)

all the best,
Mike

I went 6000 miles on my last change and have an oil sample to prove the oil was still oil.

My dealer and owners manual says 6000 miles. I will go no more than that, but no less than 4000 unless I towed/hauled/etc a lot.

First one at 2200.After that I'll go with the message oil change due or 6 and 6 as the book calls for.3k oci are so bygone and a waste of oil.Wean yourself off that.Lots of oil tested these days are still good at 7500 miles.Lots of late model GM stuff the reminders don't chime until almost 10k these days.I have read that they REALLY know what there doing in these designs and oils.

did first one today at 1058km, decided to get some synthetic blood in the lines early on and went with Mobil 1 - 5w20 synthetic, with a Napa Gold filter. Now I will stick with the 6 months or 10,00km deal, whichever comes first.

Yeah my message came on also at 5500miles exactly and I had the oil chaged at 5000. Anyone know how to turn that message off?

Mine came on at just over 2500 miles, switched it out with Mobil 1 5W-20. It says the interval is "duty cycle-based" but I drove mine real easy so that is not the reason for the early light.

To reset, turn on the key (not started) and press the accelerator to the floor 3 times within 10 seconds and then turn it back off. Page 223 in your owner's manual.

The extended warranty that I have gives me free oil changes every 3000 miles for the first two years. But after the coupons are gone, I'm going with the EVIC every 6k.
