Default Loading music onto RER

Does anyone know if you can load music onto the RER hard drive by using a portable hard drive as opposed to a memory stick? I have one of those passport mini portable hard drives that connects to a pc via USB and I was wondering if it would work just connecting that to the RER instead of going back and forth with a much smaller capacity memory stick. Anyone try it yet?

As far as I know, the HD has to be clear of all other files. You can keep the MP3s in their file folders, but all other files need to be taken off.

It should work, but mine only sees folders that contain MP3 files and ignores any other folders. I use a memory stick that has a bunch of other files and folders on it, but it only lists the folder containing the music file as an import option.

The only thing I have not been able to figure out yet is how to reorganize the files once they are on the hdd of the unit?

I put music on mine with a flash drive that had movies on it as well. It only recognized the mp3 files and transferred those. I sorted mine into folders like i wanted them before i put them on the flash drive so when i transfered them they were already set up like i wanted. I dont think you can do it once the are on the mygig.

I believe you can use your computer. I just put some songs on from my IPOD. I was wondering if there is a way to delete songs?

1. While in the HDD mode press the MENU hard-key to access the HDD Menu.

2. Touch the My Files soft-key.

3. Select My Music.

4. Touch the My Playlists soft-key.

5. Touch the EDIT soft-key of the playlist you would like to edit.

You can rename the selected playlist, delete songs from the selected playlist, or delete the selected playlist.

6. Touch the Delete Songs From This Playlist soft-key.

NOTE:
If you touch the Delete This Playlist soft-key, the playlist and all songs contained in it, will be permanently deleted. Neither song nor playlist can be recovered.

7. Select the titles you would like to delete.

A red check-mark indicates the selected songs.

8. Touch the DELETE soft-key to start the delete process.

NOTE:
If you delete a song from the playlist, the song cannot be recovered.

9. Touch the DONE soft-key, when you are done editing the playlist.

Deleting All Playlists from the Hard Disk Drive

1. Press the MENU hard-key on the right side of the radio.

2. Touch the System Setup soft-key to access the System Setup menu.

3. Touch the Manage HDD soft-key to access the Manage HDD menu.

This menu displays the available space on the hard disk drive, and allows you to delete pictures, music files, and address book entries.

Yup - can't really reorganize once they're loaded, but loading them from a portable drive works just fine.
