Sport VS. Laramie - What are the differences?
Not sure what the sport has and no one has chimed in on this but my Laramie has COOLED seats and the Laramie has an overhead DVD though this is the only thing I didn't get. I actually did put a better aftermarket player in. Voice recognition and Bluetooth technology also. Again, not sure what is the Sport so these things may be the same.
Another consideration is financial.
Consider this:
Sport for say 30k with 5k extras to bring it up to Laramie-like trim level. Dealer wants your business, but doesn't want to be stuck with a special order truck with lots of bling. So he gives 10% discount on MSRP, but none on accessories/special order items, costs 32k out the door.
Laramie costs 35k, no extras. Same 10%, costs 31500 out the door.
Now fast forward to future values. Both trucks depreciate say 50%. However, accessories are worth jack-$hit to the resale value (leather and engines excepted, maybe). If the vehicle in question warrants its own table in the little book, then that's what the value is. So:
Sport is now worth 15k.
Laramie is worth 17.5k.
Bottom line. Any dealer will tell you (if you walk over to the used car bit) that accessories and options (other than engines and leather) have NO effect on resale values. Some options (like manual tranny, or garish color) can devalue a vehicle though.
BTW, these are sample figures, I have no idea what you could actually drive a truck away for today. Game has changed a lot since I bought mine in April.

I have always felt the same way. The truth is the gap can be far wider than that between a Laramie and an or SLT with similar equipment levels in terms of price. You can actually pay more for an SLT than a Laramie with the options tacked on so even though you pay more initially for the truck, at trade in, the value is based on the base MSRP in most cases, so you are starting from a $9K deficit based on those MSRP's. I think you are best off to either buy the SLT with minimal options or step up to the Laramie. The problem there is with the guys who want the sport. They have to buy the SLT and add the option, so the bottom line will be how much will they get back on trade in? In reality, the best deal is always the cheapest (ST RC) since a 21K truck can't realistically depreciate more than $20K in 5 years, but a $53K truck certainly could (and will). That said, most of us did not buy out of a purely $$ consideration, so we want our bells and whistles.
