I want to get one but I'm not sure if I need it or not. I was going to get the factory camera and have the dealer do the final install on the computer. Do I need to if I get the Allgig? Do I just get cameras and do it myself?

I got the Mopar backup camera kit from my dealer and did the installation myself. I will tell you from experience though that if you want it to work you either need to have the dealer activate it for $100 or you can buy an AllGig for $199 and have it activate that way. For the extra $99 you get all the bonus features like being able to enter navigation in motion and watch dvd's in motion. I choose to go the AllGig route.

Chrysler puts the same high speed RER radio in the Ram as it does in all of their other high speed bus equipped vehicles (Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, etc). Just make sure you get the high speed version and your set.

For anyone that has the AllGig already installed:

Have any of you had any problems with the Allgig causing your radio to randomly turn off or restart? I've had mine installed for about a month and it's done it twice. For no apparent reason the radio turns itself off and then right back on. I read that the Lockpick had a problem with the audio dropping out, which is why I went with the AllGig, but this seems like a different problem because the whole unit turns off. Am I the only one experiencing this? Any suggestions on how to fix it (besides making sure the connections are tight, because I've already tried that)?

What is the regular price of the AllGig?
Do I need the cable if I have no back-up camera? (only sensors)

MyGig is the name of your radio from Dodge. Allgig is an aftermarket solution for our radios that enables functions such as video in motion for DVDs and entering navigation information while you are driving. There are other things as well such as turning on a rear-view or front-view cam while driving instead of just having it on in reverse.

I'm not sure what the regular price is but I know that people have been saying the price of $199 is below what people have been getting group buy prices for.

In addition, you do not need the AV cable to have the functions such as video in motion and navigation input in motion but the AV harness would be used to enable your back-up cam to be turned on while driving. Since you don't have the cam, you don't need the AV harness.

FYI - The AV harness is only necessary for aftermarket back up cameras. It is not necessary for the OEM back up camera.
