Well it's getting to that time of season now, been dealing with -15 (5) degree weather for about a week now and had our first snowfall today. It's far from the -40's but i'd like to be prepared so can anybody tell me the location of the block heater cord??

I'm also interested in adding a coolant heater, I'm curious if anyone has done this yet if so what brand did you use.

btw truck in question is a 09 ram 1500 sport quad cab 5.7L

never heard of a gasser with a block heater, all of my diesels had them though

I am selling an OEM block heater from Mopar which I purchased for my Ram. It's brand new never installed. I paid 65.00, you can have it for 45.00 plus shipping.

 

If you bought the truck in canada, it is likely to have the block heater... start hunting for the plug...

 

found it! took some searching. yes most cars sold in canada, even gassers have block heaters.

I was still hoping to add a coolant heater though. I wanted to plug it in to heat up the coolant, rather than use the remote start.

 

haha already tried that route! the wife wasn't having any of it.

 

well the block heater heats the coolant....? or did you mean you want like a webasto or proheat style coolant heater? I believe they are only available for diesels....
