I don't think you needed to do that. The AllGig has a setting (on/off) to enable the backup camera. If you have the factory camera already installed and working, you set this to off. If you're adding a camera, you set it to on. This tells the radio there's a camera hooked up to it. It's their way of allowing us to add a camera without the need for the dealer to enable it using the Starscan or Wifi or whatever it's called now.

let me make this real simple so I can get a simple answer!! I appreciate all the help people are providing!

I just want my camera to work like factory. The dealer is installing the RER, BT Mic, Rear Camera and iPOd harness tomorrow.

I don't need, at this point, my camera to work in any other fashion other than in reverse for backing onto the trailers..or for kiddie patrol. In other words "work like factory".

DO I NEED TO DO ANY WIRING OR IS THIS PLUG AND PLAY??

TIA

I only bought the ALL-GIG to add a rear video monitor and have the Nav entry in motion.

again, I appreciate the help people are providing!
No extra wiring needed for the camera but the AV, yes. You just won't be able to view the camera at anytime except reverse.

that is all I needed. I dont need to view it an other time right now. I may later get into wiring different than factory but for now...only going to view it in reverse..

I was just wondering what to expect tomorrow...

I am just installing the A/V harness for the rear video output, thats all

Thx again

Maybe there was a problem with my unit, because that did not work for me. I tried it both ways before I used my "fix". The problem I saw with mine was that there was simply no way for the camera to display once you unhooked the factory plug to hook up the All gig and A/V harness since the signal for the camera was not connected to the radio any longer.

I have not heard of the factory rear camera not working after ALL GIG install. What I have on my workbench waiting to go in my truck would appear that you would unplug a harness, plug in the A/V harness then re-plug in the factory harness back in to the end of the A/V harness, thus, reconnecting the factory camera?

Am i wrong?

I just installed the Mopar (AKA factory) camera on my truck. There were three wires with three terminals that I had to insert into the gray connector that plugs into the back of the MyGig. The AllGig plugs into the MyGig where the white connector goes. So the Mopar camera isn't unplugged when you install or uninstall the AllGig.

Did you get it all working as desired? Did you get power for the camera from the TIPM as the instructions specified?

Tell ya what, I just had surgery on my sinuses and I'm stuck at the house for another week. Tomorrow I'll try to come up with a parts list and wiring diagram to try and help anyone else doing the install.
Now that would be awesome! I am going to be putting an aftermarket rear camera and also a front camera so will these be the same instructions?

I did indeed wire the power for the camera as the Mopar instructions specified. The backup camera therefore only has power in reverse, which is fine by me. I'm not sure I can think of an instance when I would want to see the rear camera while I was driving forward. Right now my AllGig is configured so that I can hit the power button twice and it attempts to show the rear camera, but the screen goes black (because I have it wired factory style). The next time I get the computer hooked up to it I plan to disable that feature.
