Real quick All-Gig install ?
I am going to install my ALL-GIG tomorrow if all goes well tomorrow morning at the dealer with the RER, Camera, Ipod and mic install.
I know this is plug and play, I think. the instructions are not clear on the camera IMO.
I am assuming the camera harness will plug directly into the back of the RER? If it does I guess the A/V harness goes in between the Camera harness and the RER?
Also, Is there a decent amount of room for the extra wiring and the actual ALL-GIG unit? Where is every one mounting the ALL-GIG unit itself?
I just wanted this answered before I dig in tomorrow afternoon!
I then am going to have the video wire ready to go rolled up under the dash for the overhead monitor. Which brings up another question. My local stereo shop is installing my overhead monitor on Friday. They are known for their clean installs and neat work. Plus to fuss with the monitor is only costing me like 70.00 bucks or so. They can cut the headliner! Where would be a good place to have the wire rolled up and waiting? Passenger side or driver side kick panel?
TIA
Is it weird that I am 33 and getting this equipment excites me so much?? LOL

If you are referring to the Mopar camera, I thought the instructions were OK. There are three wire terminals that plug into the gray connector that goes into the RER radio. The AllGig plugs in between the white connector and the radio. The AV harness doesn't have anything to do with the Mopar camera.
The AllGig just allows you to use the Mopar backup camera without having to pay the stealership to activate it for you.

The A/V harness plugs into the left side of of the back of the radio per the instructions I guess.
I was just saying that instructions say the camera can hook it up two ways. One advises about the reverse wire or hooking up to power all the time. Where does the dodge camera plug in? The A/V harness just looked like it went "in between" something because there are plugs at both ends. I didnt see anything mentioned to leave the wiring alone for the factory camera. I thought it was implying there was additional wiring needed.
I guess this harness has to do with other things other than the camera.
thanks for the input.
I just like to triple check any questions that I have, that is all!

The Mopar camera requires you to splice into the wiring for the backup lights at the TIPM wire harness. Because the camera's power is dependent on the backup lights, you only have power to the camera in reverse. Since the AllGig allows you the freedom to use your camera while in drive, they provide a wire you can use as an alternate power source for the backup camera. This wire has power all the time thus allowing you to see your camera anytime. If you have the Mopar camera wired to the backup lights and you use the AllGig to try to use it while in drive, the screen goes black, because the camera doesn't have power. Does that help?
Let me see if I can help at all. I installed the AllGig, AV harness, & factory camera all myself a few months back.
First off there is plenty of room in the dash for the AllGig and cables. The hardest part for me to figure out was the wiring for the camera. I wanted it to work like from the factory and come on with the reverse lights and also wanted the option to turn it on while driving. The AllGig allows this by pushing the power button twice quickly. It has an extra power wire that signals the camera to turn on. I saw this as an issue because I didn't want my reverse lights coming on while driving down the road, which is what should happen if the factory camera is getting power from the reverse light ouput in the TIPM.
To get by this, I used a single relay with two diodes. I used a switched power source for the 12v power (cig lighter) and both the wires from the TIPM and AllGig as the switch side of the relay. Each of the switch wires have a diode which only allows the power current to flow in one direction. This prevents the reverse lights from coming on when I power the camera from the radio.
Next the AV harness. This consisted of multiple loose RCA cables with ends that plug into the factory wiring harness. I used a small flat screwdriver to remove the factory pins from the harness and plugged in the RCA plugs. I just studied the supplied diagram along with the instructions from the camera. I ran extra RCA cables into the console for when I add my headrest monitors later.
I may of over done it with my install but it's been working as designed for several months with no issues.

I had a similar problem. When I installed my All Gig I wanted my camera to come on like normal, but I had to unplug the harness that fed the signal into the radio unit so it was just a black screen anytime I put it into reverse. I ended up making my own RCA jacks and using posi-taps to jump the signal from the factory harness (my camera is a factory installed one so this might make it different than the over the counter Mopar ones).
Tell ya what, I just had surgery on my sinuses and I'm stuck at the house for another week. Tomorrow I'll try to come up with a parts list and wiring diagram to try and help anyone else doing the install.
I am confused now...
let me make this real simple so I can get a simple answer!! I appreciate all the help people are providing!
I just want my camera to work like factory. The dealer is installing the RER, BT Mic, Rear Camera and iPOd harness tomorrow.
I don't need, at this point, my camera to work in any other fashion other than in reverse for backing onto the trailers..or for kiddie patrol. In other words "work like factory".
DO I NEED TO DO ANY WIRING OR IS THIS PLUG AND PLAY??
TIA
I only bought the ALL-GIG to add a rear video monitor and have the Nav entry in motion.
again, I appreciate the help people are providing!
