Update on MPG trip back to Oklahoma
To everyone that gave me advice for my lets say lack luster gas mileage all of the tips did nothing but I thank you all very much. I still only got 15-15.8. I just don't get this thing. Pulled the program out, I went 65,70,75,80 used criuse and not useing it. I used 89 and 91 fuel no difference. Temp was on the chilly side at the start but did warm up to like 75. Wind was like 5-7 MPH SW until MO then it was like 20-25 BAD. Even had the wife drive and see if her tender foot made a difference. I love everything about this truck except this issue, really frustrating. Now I'm thinking the tires I put on is the issue. Quess for long trips have to start taking the wife's crappy chevy product, But I will wear a bag over my head!!

What kind of terrain? I know cruise control is great for flat, but if it's rolling hills, the OD kicks in and cruise control will killl mileage, had to put up with that driving from San Antonio to Lubbock all the time. 60-65 is optimum speed supposedly, I still rather go 70-80, but that's me.
I'm trying to figure out if 89 is better than 87 even if 89 is recommended.

I've pulled over 20 mpg at 80 mph.....until the first hill and the trans downshifts - then the mileage drops to about 18 then 17, 16, and finally levels off at about 15.2 mpg for the whole trip.
Like stated before it doesn't make any difference if the cruise is on or off, the mileage is usually the same by a few tenths.

I know I can get 19 MPG bone stock at about 70mph on cruise. Not sure what set up you have mine is '09 Ram, Crew cab SLT, 5.7 Hemi (built July 09), 3.55, 4x4 with 17's, no tonneau cover nothing. With a wind of 20-25 that is anywhere but from behind you has a headwind compent and thus kills MPG's. Sorry to hear yours is so low.

I drove my mine from Virginia Beach to Waukegan, Illinios and back the first of Sept. drove up the 1st and drove back the 4th even with a couple of days driving around town I averaged 19 mpg. That is according to the computer and figuring the milage and gas used. Computer was only .5 off.

It seems like the biggest factor for me (besides towing) is the wind. Most of my longer trips are on fairly level roads. If there is no winds then I get around 17-18mpg. Got over 21mpg with a tailwind once and the same trip with a strong headwind only got about 15.
CCSB, 5.7 with 3.21s (they suck by the way, should have found one with 3.92s)
