Now what are the benefits to having a ram air hood? Besides it looking awesome.

Would any open filter box work with it?

yes its an awesome hood and functional.. but...

on the air box there is a breather hose fitting that is secured with locknut and washer ...after 20k miles of normal engine vibration... it came loose was sucked into intake and destroyed my hemi....

So you bought this exact kit, and the nut went through your engine?

Exclamation

yes ... i bought the hood and air box for my 07 ram 3500 5.7 hemi... called ram air to ensure it was a plastic nut that came loose.. it is.. appears that it has gone into valve port and holding a valve open.. truck runs rough and backfires ... dodge is tearing it apart as we speak... ram air says this is first they have had one come loose.. i suggest anyone that has this setup .. to take nut off and epoxy fitting in place... i dont know that lock-tite will work on plastic... but ram air says to try it ...lol .. i'm not risking it ...epoxy seems more reliable way to go
