Default HID ballast mounting position

Question for those of you have installed the HID kit. Where exactly did you mount the ballast for you kit. My setup arrived today and I probably wont have time untill next weekend to install. I got the fog and the low beam kit so I will have to mount and support a total of four ballasts. Thanks Wes

For the headlight HID I mounted mine to the metal part of the truck right beside the headlights under the hood. It is kinda hard to explain but if you look under your hood next to where your headlights are there is straight piece of metal. Almost where your radiator mounts to. On mine there isnt anything on the inside part of that. I just used the supplied 3m tape and I also added some long zip ties. It looks really clean. As for the fog light they are mounted almost in the same spot. Just make sure they are not where water will get to them really easy. I know that they might be water proof but I am sure that they can't get completly soaked. I hope that this helps. I try and take some pics for you..

hey shep,

How did the wires reach back and forth to the ballasts mounting them all the way up by the low beam ballasts?

I want to do my fogs now. Do they have extension wires or something? How did you order them and which bulbs?

thanks

The wires will reach just far enough...Like I said, they are pretty close the low beam ballasts just sitting right below them...The fog lights are the H10's and I got them from HIDextra.com too...The fog lights don't need any special wiring to go with them. Those are just plug and play and everything works great.

thanks,

It just seemed that it would be too far.. I will order another set soon..I should have done them all at once but I wanted to see the quality of the kit before i got 2 sets of them...

No worries, once you take the headlights and grill off once, its a 10 minute job!

I may stick with 3000K fogs, just to have the traditional yellowish light for the fogs... I live in a rural area and have found myself using just my fogs in bad conditions...

I wonder if the 3000Ks will be alot brighter than the factory bulbs?? I never ran a yellowish HID before...

Some pics as to where you guys are mounting the FOG ballasts would be KILLER on the 2009-2010 rams ..

there seem to be tons of pics online of fog ballasts in 2008 and down rams, but i have yet to find the optimal place for my fog ballasts.
Thanks

chris
