i like the new ram dual exhaust, looks sharp. cant see spending the money for the conversion kit. plus up here in ct, the winter sand an salt just eats away everything. should have saved 900.00 an just got a nice muffler an opened up the y-pipe.

I am switching my single exhaust to a dual setup- I bought an OEM Mopar single/dual outlet muffler and was wondering:
Does anyone know if this OEM dual outlet muffler will go in place of the stock OEM single/single muffler?
Are the mounting points for the hangers the same?

Everything is there that you will need. Must have cost you a ton?? Aftermarket is more performance than stock. Only thing that will be missing is the rubber insulator on the back driver side. You will have to make sure you order one of them, otherwise you wont have anywhere to hang the driverside pipe.

Since I have a regular cab 8 foot bed, I cannot find any one that makes a nice kit for dual exhaust. I actually like the way the stock muffler sounds and figure it is nicely made in stainless anyways....

As far as performance, the truck runs incredible- it really helps to have the 3:92 sure grip. I was impressed to see a heavy 4x4 truck click off consistent 14.7's in the quarter mile.

As for the cost, check this out-

-OEM Muffler - bought on eBay for $20
-Two 4" Stainless rolled tips (factory style)- $130
-Stainless tailpipes bent by my friend -Free
- And of course the killer, about $400 for the chrome dual ex. bumper.

I noticed that I have hangers welded to the frame on the driver's side frame rail- will make this conversion nice. I guess I will need the rubber part you mentioned.

The bumper is the expensive part, but IMO Chrysler really came through in design- it's a must have.

With the Magnaflow I received, it included a hanger kit which had a rubber insulator, I drilled the hole a little bit and used that on the driverside.I had my doubts, but its pretty tight though.I'm still enjoying that dual exhaust rumble.

If my truck would have came with duals I wouldn't have changed them and spent the money either. I like the stock duals too, but most of us here changed from single to dual. My truck is an STRC with 3.92's and came with single exhaust... the change made a hell of a difference. And not to knock the stock duals, but the welds are ugly other wise I would have purchased them from the dealer. And though my exhaust sounds great, I'd rather it be as quiet as the stock..I like sleepers. Anyways, those times on your sig...are they from your Dakota..nice runs!

Hey Sneeks...your truck looks sweet, good job man! And by the way, my dealer didn't have the rubber hangers in stock but I found some at a muffler shop. They are the same as the 08's, just need to make sure you get the one with three holes for the rear. Enjoy everyone

Default question about install

I have a question concerning the convertion. Did you hve to install a heat shield on the drivers side by the spare tire? I know that there is one on passengers side by the tailpipe, but not the drivers side(I have a single exhaust).

I didn't on mine and you can twist and turn your pipes to get a good clearance from the tire. Second..it would take more heat that those rear pipes to melt your spare anyway, and I wouldn't worry about it.
