Default Burning Oil

I always had to add motor oil to my '03 F150 between changes. It also used the 5w 20 oil that I am using in my '09 1500 5.7L.
Will I have the same experience with my Dodge? I know this oil is on the thin side. I have 1500 miles on my first oil change. I checked it today and it was down almost 1/16 of an inch.
What say you guys?
Jack

My first oil change came at about 2200 miles. Thats when the computer decided it needed it. Im up to 6400 miles now and it hasnt told me to change it yet.

First Fords are notorious for burning oil I used to have an 03 F150 work truck with 200,000 miles on it and If you didnt add oil every 3 days the engine would run completely dry.

As for the computer telling you to change your oil its a liar, I drained some oil out after it told me to change it at 3,000 miles and the oil was as clean as when it went in.

and after Ituned it it started coming on after 2,000 miles.

All engines use some oil. I certainly wouldn't worry about 1/16" on a dipstick

Seems most are posting that the first oil change reminder is coming on around 2200 to 2500 miles.Mine did also. Some oil usage is not unusual on new engines.Don't know about Chrysler's OLM oil life monitoring system but General motors is highly thought of.It takes a lot of factors into when oil needs changing. You can't tell when oil needs changing by feel or the way it looks.Use a quality oil and these 5.7s I have read are easy on oil.The manual states a MAX of 6 months or 6k change interval.

The standards for burning oil industry wide is as follows

1 quart every 1000 miles under 50k miles

1 Quart ever 750 miles after 50k miles

all engines burn oil its when the amount is higher then that you have a issue.

I wouldn't worry about it. The rings are still setting up so it may use a bit of oil the first couple thousand miles.
On my 08 I fought it for about 12000 miles and with the dealer. Then it just cleared up and quit using any.
