I think PAC makes one to plug right in to the stock wiring. I think the part # is PAC AOEM-CHR3. They're $40 - $50 online.

Now I see why you might want to use your stock unit....you would still have to buy this adapter for $129.99 (50% off if you order a head unit with it) http://signature.crutchfield.com/app...px?I=130P410UB

That is one expensive "adapter" just to retrofit my truck w/an aftermarket stereo....hmmmm, choices, choices.

Talking Pac aoem-chr3

PAC AOEM-CHR3 Works awesome! I installed one in my truck about 7 months ago to a REN I added. Works great and very easy to install. It will plug directly into your RES and give you front and rear RCA outs while allowing the deck to still power the stock speakers.

true you could prolly buy 2 10"s subs, have a box made and buy a small amp for the $650 that cost.. but i just liked this all in one deal.

later on i will upgrade the subs..

i found mine on ebay for $250 brand new i think.. maybe $300...

by the time you drop in a stealthbox, pay for wiring and buy a amp for it.. you could be over a grand easy

That does look like the option that I would be leaning toward.... Except is clearly states it doesnt fit the 2009 Ram 1500 with the factory stereo....
I dont get it.

i dunno either..

my truck came from the factory with a sub.. so i took that out and used the wires to hook up the new sub.

but it does have high level inputs.. so you could run basic seaker wire to it and it would work. any competetant audio shop should be able to hook it up

this way you dont have bass on one side of the truck.. i like the duals back there

Just got off the phone with Crutchfield. Thay are saying that the truck may be too new to say it fits. And its supposed to fit in the 2008 1500. My next question being... What other kit would I need to hook the MTX unit into the stock headunit? Seems like the MTX comes with all wiring and fuses necessary for the install. Also should I be concerned with the power draw from the battery. Would a capacitor be necessary? Thanks DOC.

The back seat hasnt changed, so there shouldnt be any problems with the 08 style sub boxes for quad or crew cab. Have a few more exterior mods to do then I'll start diggin deeper into my stereo.

You won't need a capacitor Weside. For those of you that are using the PAC AOEM-CHR3, how are you controlling the bass to the subs vs. bass to the door speakers? I am used to using the aftermarket head unit's high/low pass filters so that I have my door speakers running mids and highs and pretty much all my bass running through the subs. I am just wondering how I could accomplish this if I decided to use my stock RES and the PAC.

Subs are non-directional so if you use only one, it won't sound "unbalanced" because it is on one side of the truck or the other. I definitely like the dual set up, but I have done a couple of vehicles using one 10 in a custom box in various places in the vehicle (non-centered) and you can't tell where the bass is eminating from...it's all around. Over thanksgiving, if I can find the time, I am going to build some custom boxes for under the back seats. If I do, I'll take some pics and do a writeup w/dimensions and directions. These were easy to build for my Tacoma http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=258197 but I will have to get more creative with the ram. I will have use of a table saw over Thanksgiving so I may give it a shot. I wanted to hold off on messing with the stereo, but now you guys got my wheels turning!

subs are omnidirectional.. IF the crossover is deep/steep 18 db per octave or more.. and everything else is balanced... i have heard a few 1 sub boxes and yeah you can tell what side there on... in fact even with even with these duals you can tell the bass in behind you... so its not automatically omnidirectional... you need a lot of tuning

and its true.. just like the bolt patterns for the wheels dodge did not change under the rear seats.. so anything that fits in a 02-08 quad cab will fit 09+ crew/quad cabs

also you wont need a capacitor because your only drawing 200 watts and the amp in these boxes are class d... if you dont know what that is... google it lol

everything needed to hook it up is included... and it even has a **** that i placed in that cubby hole on the lower left side of my dash to control the amount of bass..

its not something that will shake the walls.. but my wife hears me when i pull up lol

I guess we can agree to disagree, but I have personally built many setups using one sub (Trucks, Explorers, Tahoes, Mustangs, 4runner) and although one may "feel" where the bass it is coming from (i.e. from somewhere behind the driver) I, nor the people I built them for, was able to distinguish that "the bass is coming from the left side of the vehicle" for example. I guess it is a matter of opinion but I just wanted to throw it out there that if someone didn't want to spend a lot of money on a dual setup like yours (I really like your setup BTW) they could go the route of getting a custom single box done and one sub and save a little cash.
