Welding steel exhaust in northern climates pretty much guarantees an early death from rust.

14" SIDO leaked too from the inlet connection. Took mine off and went back to stock but I'm going to put the 14" Mufflex back on this week when I have a few days off for the holiday. Before I removed it, it would leak at the inlet, the two tail pieces were ok. The clamp was cranked on all the way so this time I will cut another slot opposite the one Mufflex cut. Perhaps it will crimp on better. I would trade with any local 18" SIDO guys here, the 14" was only installed for about 1 month before going back to stock. This thing is obnoxious !! A few buddies have gotten intake/exhaust setups on their trucks so I'm giving in to pier pressure here, the airaid also went back on last weekend, but only after I cut the front on the airbox off, ( I cut around the fender vent though) , saw an S&B installed on an 08 and it had no front or back on the heat shield.

Just out of curiosity, why are you guys paying for the "kit", only to get it welded on later? I understand why some people want go the mufflex route so that they can switch it back to stock if they want, but I don't understand why you would waste the cash on the kit if you plan on welding it later. I ordered the same 18" muffler that is used in the the mufflex kit (in the satin finish...still SS but cheaper than the mirrored) for $100 and had it welded on for $60 which is still high. Even if it was only $20 to get your kit welded, it would seem that you would be spending around $280 total. Am I missing something here?

Mine does not leak. Which is why I bought it, DIY.

Clamped on the edge of the pipe with an air impact.
