Default Volant CAI thoughts

So I dropped a Volant CAI in my 09 Hemi RAM. No instructions came in the box but the install procedure was relatively easy to figure out. The drone from under the hood while accelerating is a little louder than I expected but I guess I can live with it. The real surprise is the DROP in gas mileage I'm experiencing. Even though it only has 2K miles, if I kept my foot out of it I used to get an average of 17-19 MPG with the stock air-box. Now I only get 13-15. I also noticed a slight DROP in low-end torque. Anybody else with a CAI experience something like this?

One thing I have heard and read several times is that it may take the engine awhile to adjust to the new airflow increase and adjust the fuel/ air ratio accordingly. I have read somewhere on this forum that its seeming to take the 09's an even longer time, so maybe run it on your truck for a 1000 miles or less and that should be plenty to get a fair assessment. Some may say to disconnect the battery in order to force the engine to recalculate at startup. This is interesting as I have been thinking hard about buying the Volant for my 09 hemi, so please let me know how it turns out for you. I actually got an email returned from the vice president of Volant, and he said that they have only road tested this model on the new hemi but they are estimating 15-18hp increase and 20-25lb ft torque increase. When I emailed back about Volant's pledge to sell no product that has not been proven to increase power, and that they havent dyno tested this model yet, I got no reply.
