Radio/Backup camera
I have the stock basic radio in my sport and was thinking about upgrading it. Would it be possible to go the factory upgrade with the backup camera? or would an aftermarket brand be better? any other ideas or suggestions? thanks
Can you provide some detailed feedback? I'm curious about what you like better about your Pioneer and what you like better about the RER? And vice versa, what do you dislike about the Pioneer and what do you dislike about the RER? Thanks in advance.
Much easier to bypass the DVD in motion and nav inputs. The GPS had multiple different screens which I used the speed one a lot since my truck was lifted on 37s. I had an actual remote I could let the wife control the movies with. RCA outputs for amps and 12v remote wire. Real sound adjustment for different frequencies not just low, mid, & high. Some support HD radio.
Cons
Didn't fit as good in the dash as the factory unit, factory nav larger than double din. Didn't have steering wheel controls. More likely to be stolen. No hard drive on my unit.
These are just real quick examples.
If your radio doesn't already support it, you can find take-out dodge radios on ebay all the time for pretty good prices. That's definately what I would do instead of buying a new one from the dealer. The ebay ones are used, but most look like they're in real good shape.
If you do decide you want to go the aftermarket route though, there's some pretty decent wireless kits that are very affordable and have pretty good picture quality. Mine cost $85, installed in less than 20 minutes, has a 7 inch screen and the camera mounted to the top of the license plate with good view of the hitch ball. About the only thing I don't really like about it is occasionally when driving around, it will pick up random security camera feeds. Not that often and I find the fact t it does mildly amusing, but still, I'd rather it not most of the time.

I picked up a Garmin Nuvi 5000 GPS for $199, which has a video input. I then bought a CCCD Camera for $85 on eBay, added $30 of cables and an afternoon of my time and I now have a backup camera that plays on my 5.2" Nuvi 5000 screen. The GPS will switch to camera whenever an input signal is present, so I wired the camera to be powered off of the reverse lights. It actually works really well, and the CCCD camera even has Infrared night mode.

I also have the stock radio system and maybe I am not up with the times but my question is this... Is it worth it to buy the MyGig system? Also, is there anyway to get a bluetooth kit with out getting the Uconnect upgrades?
All I really want is to connect my iPhone so that I am hands free when I am driving on post (army regs and all).

It was tricky figuring out where I wanted to mount a 7 inch screen, it's actually pretty big. I ended up bending and shaping the metal base plate and fitting it in the middle cupholder (I don't have the center floor shifter console) and the screen sits right below the ***** for my climate control.
I also have a gps installed in the corner of my winshield, but it doesnt have av input. If you could find one of those for a good price and do like the guy above did, I would think that would be even better. I didn't even know the garmins had that feature. But for the ease of set-up and the cheap price of mine, I like it a lot. Plus the screen has av inputs so u can use a dvd player or something if you want.
