HVAC auto defrost with remote start
For some time I though my AC was not coming on with remote start as the ac indicator lights did not come on. Turns out the ac is operating even though the indicator lights say its not on. I cannot get floor (heat) air alone, like I can in any other vehicle. I have tried every position on the dial and never is the air coming from the floor vents only. I like my truck alot. But I must say it is the weirdest vehicle I have ever owned.
If you have a Remote Starter installed it is because someone did not hook up the accessories wires properly to the heating and a/c controls. The heater WILL NOT come on during remote start feature unless those wires are hooked up to the ignition wires. They will only come on with the key in the ignition rather than both. Either way, you would dtill need to set the fan control on High before you left the vehicle where as newe digital dash guys have to do nothing. it's all programmable.
My 2-way remote could control the temp up/down inside the car via remote. Kinda sucks dodge has been behind the game in that area.

Mine works perfectly. The heated mirrors turn on instantly, and the defrost kicks in on full blast once the coolant reaches at least 100 degrees. When I put the key in it goes to the user defined levels instantly.
If I don't use the remote start to start the truck, it stays on "DELAY" until the coolant sensor says 124 degrees. The fans pop on after that to quickly warm up the truck.

I usually have mine on feet and defrost setting, I'll try it on window only and see what happens. Not sure about the '09s but mine has an option on the evic vehicle settings I think its called remote start convenience or something like that. Make sure that is set to "on"
I got in my truck this morning after running approximately 10 mins (temp was -15C) and when I put my key in the ignition and turned it on it felt like the air conditioner was on blowing cold air through the vents. I just got this truck on Monday and it worked fine up until today. I turned the unit off and then on to auto again and started to get heat. Why would that happen?
mine works most of the time, but not always... and lately my mygig REN will not come on when the truck is cold - not even that cold (0 degrees Celsius) takes about 15 minutes with heat on until it powers up...
and now having more gremlins, remote started truck for 10 minutes, outside temp was -3 got to the truck and no fans were turning, it was still frosted over solid. Coolant temp was 125*F when I got in. And as usual - every morning - REN Mygig would not turn on for 15 minutes of driving
