You need some nice component speakers, you will have to build the spots to put them in but the sound is more full, I have an old chevy and have one set of 6.5" midgrade sony component speakers run by an amp of course and just those two sound so good, I was gonna go all sub woofer and stuff. just gonna hook up a set of 6x9's in the back, will beall I need. So go components front andback will sound nice, What kind.....up to your wallet.

The stock speaker size for the non-alpine system is 6x9's front and rear doors. I imagine the alpine system uses the same size speaker in the doors, if you are looking for an easy swap, then any shallow mount 6x9 will do. If you buy a 6x9 with a large magnet/basket you will have to cut/modify the door for clearance. I plan on doing the same and I have my eye on some pioneer three way 6x9's on sale at a local sound shop for $55.00 a pair, I don't remember the model number but they have a 2 1/4" mounting depth. I plan on swapping out all four 6x9's for pioneer 3-ways, and adding a singe 10" pioneer premier sub in a custom box powered by a 800w mono pioneer amp. I plan on keeping the factory deck for now until sirrus radio subscription ends. The pioneer amp, sub and 6x9's plus tax will set me back $349.00. So far I have only bought the sub ($59.99) and I will start making the sealed sub box tomorrow. I am shooting for at least .75 cubic feet under the driver side rear seat.

I bought these pioneers for my doors, being delivered tuesday. Pioneer TS-A6963R

You can get them form Sonic Electronixs online for $50 a pair and matching 3.5" dash speakers for $45. (free shipping) They have the mounting depth where you dont have to put anything out too.

I too am collecting my system parts. I am going to run Phoenix Gold components ( 6in. mid bass and a tweeter in each door). I still need to order the adapters to fit them in the stock 6x9 holes. Your going to need a signal processor. I went with the 3sixty from Rockford Fosgate. I also have two Kenwood KFC-XW1200F subs. Still have to buy a box and an amp big enough to push those subs. Good luck
