Which factory options are too much hassle to add later?

Default Which factory options are too much hassle to add later?

I'm looking at buying an 09 QC Hemi.

Which factory options are too much hassle to add later on?

The two big convenience ones I'd like are remote start, and unconnect (phone) or possibly uconnect tunes(?)

Unfortunately dealers are running out of 09s, but I want the lifetime warranty... getting hard to find a truck with the exact options packages I'd like. Don't necessarily trust the dealers around here with anything that would require a computer re-flash to do it..

As an aside - seems the best I can do this time of year is about $9500 under sticker.

uconnect will cost you around 500 if you let the dealer sell you it and do the work
I think remote start is fairly cheap I saw it somewhere but I can't find it.
If by hassle you mean expense then they all are a hassle LOL. Have fun playing. There are lots of things to do.

You can find a mygig radio on ebay, but it is getting risky now, before it was people updating them mainly, but now I have my suspicions, go by part number and date it was made, both are marked by a sticker or stamped in the metal. Make sure it's fairly new. Go here for info on radios http://mofv.com/mygig/

The part cost and work to install myself is no problem. I'd rather not involve a dealer unless I absolutely have to, based on my poor experiences with the dealers around here.

For instance, someone posted that they tried to add a steering wheel with radio controls - and that then the computer had to be reflashed to make them work. That's the sort of surprise I'd like to avoid if I end up buying a less optioned truck than I'd like, just based on what's left on the lots.

What spec truck are you buying? QC Hemi could be any of them (other than ST). Some of the trim levels will have some of the options you want, whichever they may be.

Not even a Laramie will have all of them though. I don't have RamBox, for instance, and that is damn-near impossible to retrofit.

The other consideration is what the truck will be worth down the road. Bling adds nothing to the value of the truck at trade in. You're better off (financially at least) buying the trim level that has the toys you want as standard rather than up-speccing a lower model.

He said he was getting a big horn and wanyts uconnect (possible tunes) and remote start.

Neither of these are horrible after the fact and of course a large aftermarket available. I do like certain features the stock system gives though. Some hate it. Items such as remote start not working if low on gas, hood/door open, ect.

Anything radio-wise is easily upgradable. Anything else you'd be better off getting it from the factory.
