Default New to Forums And Getting A New Ram

Hello everyone, I have been coming to this forums for quite awhile now but just signed up for the forums today. I went to a dodge dealer today to see what kind of deal I can get on a new 2010 Ram 1500 4x4 Quad cab Hemi. I also am trading in my 2004 ram 1500 4x2 Hemi. I have to say I love the way the new Rams drive, much different then my 04 i'll tell you that. Being from central NY and all the snow we get 4x2 is just getting annoying. Ok now for some questions. What would be a good bedliner to put in? Also how reliable are the speakers that it comes with? The original tires should I replace right away or keep them for a while? This is going to be my first 4x4 that I owned, saying that we sometimes get up to 3 feet of snow at 1 time so how well will the truck do going through so much snow? Thanks in advance!

First of all..Welcome.
Go with the mopar bedliner ..the off brand ones tend to fly out when they're empty running on the interstate. I-95 is littered with all shapes and sizes. I have lived in Florida for the last 20 years but the first 32 was in W.V. and I would drive around other brands stuck and abandoned until they got them pulled out. As for the tires unless they are defective and you can get them warranted out I would run them. Can't really help you with the speakers. I'm sure someone else will answer or you can search for threads on them ..I know theres been a couple.

I think the speakers are great for stock. As for the truck in the snow I think this comes back to your other question. I think the tires will be the biggest factor in how the truck handles.

Just get a good professional spray in bedliner. They aren't slick, and they won't rub on your nice new paint job.
The factory speakers, they have a 3 year warranty on them LOL.

The stock tires do great in snow, you won't have any problems with them (I can only speak for the 20's).

line x or rhino will do right by you...

you have the alpne system? if so.. just upgrade your sub and you should be good to go...

get rid of your stock tires as fast as you can.. they suck in any wet weather much less snow... get some revos or grabber htc... just go to tirerack.com and check the reviews for yourself

Why would you want to purchase brand new tires for a brand new truck? I have had the 20" goodyear (although I hate goodyear) since 2002, and they are adequate in snowy weather. Besides, he is coming from a 2 wheel drive, he will be plenty happy.

Just make the dealer swap them. I've structured that as part of the deal before when cars/trucks came with crappy tires.

Ya the dealer structures the price of the tires into the deal too! I am crippled and when I went to pick up the truck we realized that it was so high that it might be an issue and I might have to spend some serious money on some way of getting in. So the salesman says lets try some 17 wheels, so he brings another truck around an st with 17's, the seat was just as high but he insisted it was lower and that he could just swap the wheels and tires for free. I laughed and said....this is his problem not mine because there is no deal if I can't figure something out. I had a plan, so we took the truck, I went home with my son in his Avenger. I get into the truck with a dirtbike jack, it lifts 3 feet, I had to switch the braked wheels to the opposite end because the were under the truck and that cause them to hit the frame work for the bottle jack and also had to switch the bottle jack the other way around cuz the foot pump was on the door side. So all this switching required the wheels needing a 1 inch spacer at each one which with the padded top we made for it brought it to almost 40 inches plenty to get me in, matches perfect beside the seat, just bring up the jack to wheel chair height near the front door, slide onto the jack get someone to pump it up and roll me into the truck, I get off and they load the chair and jack into the back or behing the seat. I like to keep it in the truck seems to not move around as much when I get racy, LOL.

Long story short 17 and 20 make the truck the same height.

welcome on board.

it is forum not forums

get a professional spray in liner, especially in the rust belt... drop ins wear away the paint under them... road salt and water get between them and the bed and you get rust.

the speakers are adequate or barely adequate depending on what system you got. not too expensive to replace though.

depends on what you want to do with your truck on the tires. the 20 tires are decent on wet, good on dry scary on snow and useless on mud.
