Ordering New Ram. Q's- What can i expect?
these salesmen are so stubborn
after about 2 hours at the dealer, i walked out the door with " The best I can do is $3,000 off sticker price. "
am I being un-reasonable looking to go from about a 40-42k MSRP to about 30kish ? ( with rebates) for putting an a brand new order on a 2010

First post and LOVE this site!! Anyways, I can tell you what I got and I guess go from there. I was very much like you even before the whole "cash for clunkers" came along months ago. I new EXACTLY what I wanted in my purchase, which was going to be an 09' Sport Deep Blue with all the bells and whistles. Unfortunately, I wasn't pressed for a vehicle so I took my time. Then after the CFC program came and went, all the local lots for what I wanted were empty. Fast forward to last month. After holding my breath for a 2010 SPORT, my patience got the best of me. Instead, I found locally a 2010 Laramie with EVERYTHING except the Ram Boxes, and the Rear Video player. It has my Deep Blue Pearl color,Sunroof,NAV,3.92 gears,32 Gallon tank,Leather,Bedliner,Rear Camera,Remote Start,Alpine stereo etc.. Sticker - $47.4K After all incentives I got it for $38.5.. For this Truck, I think I did ok (9K off the sticker).. Although its not a SPORT model like I wanted, I am happy with upgrading to the Laramie!
I just bought a 2010 Ram 1500 4x4 Quad Cab SLT with a Hemi, I got a few discounts on the truck: $2500 off for the North East cash allowance and also $1500 off for some dealer discount. That does not include my trade in as well. I was pretty happy with the price after it was all said and done.
I just got off the phone with another dealer after a co-worker mentioning I might get a discount from the company i work for.
the guy on the phone was pretty sure with my company we get %1 below dealer invoice.
anybody familiar with this? or what dealer invoice may be? is it saving a bundle of cash or just 2,000 dollars or so? Im waiting for the guy to call me back.

They have a website that when you enter your employee code, you can see the exact price of the truck you want. What you do is go there, enter your employer code and then click directly to the Ram site. You can then build your truck or view them on the lot at the affiliate pricing. Just be sure cookies are on so it knows what site you came from to show your discount. Pretty sure it is 1% over, not under. Last summer on a $41,500 truck, the discount was about $4400 + all incentives. May be a little less now with the new pricing, I haven't checked.

If you belong to a credit union, you can also use the affiliates discount.

Last summer with incentives I got about $11,000 off the sticker (total), no haggling. But things are different now and the incentives not as great. They have said that the large incentives are history so I doubt you are going to be in the range you were thinking on a 2010.

It basically winds up being 6k off sticker with the 2500 rebate
better then nothing ,but he was pretty set on that their was no haggling once using that program.
Basically a 38k Ram came down to about 32.
Who knows what the Rates are at 72 months, he mentioned maybe 8% or so, which seems really high.
I have a 2002 jeep grand cherokee, hopefully i can pull at least 4,000 for on a trade in , or sale.

About 6 months ago, before CFC program I got my Ram, MSRP $34,200, got it for $30,200.That was after they paid off my 2007 F150 at $13,000, the blue book before the deduction for hail damage($2,000) would've been $9200. I was happy with my purchase. My Fiancee, which use to work for that dealership said, the salesman will try to get you to come down a lot in your trade in.Just a thought
Purchased an 09 TRX yesterday in the San Antonio/Boerne, TX area. Ancira Dodge was very aggressive at buying up trucks from bankrupt dealers and therefore can offer savings of $10k to 15K of of MSRP. The $15k off models are loaded up with dealer add-ons but if they appeal to you then you're essentially getting them for free.
The first price they gave me was $11,300 below MSRP on a $36.5k truck. Unfortunately it was the only TRX they had and a color that I did'nt want.
They had hundreds of Bighorn/Lonestar models though. See Laura Jones or Kelly Twiss. I suspect that the 2010 models would not be discounted as much but you never know.
Anyway, I drove 30 miles up I-10 to Boerne Dodge and found the color I wanted and MIKE WORTON matched the Ancira price after a little haggling.
I was pleased with both dealerships...more so with Boerne Dodge.
Here's the pic of the TRX with my Dakota in the background. Hell no I didn't trade it in. It's been my all time favorite truck. But the Hemi is...well...you know.

I worked this little chart out to see what might be some options for me.
I hate to give up 4x4 and the ram box, but i may have to consider in order to keep the price reasonable.
All these prices are BEFORE any rebates, and include these options where not included by model. Major alterations between Larimie with and with out rambox and 4x4, and big horn with and without ram box and 4x4
Other options I always included:
32 gal fuel tank
class IV reciver hitch
Full Multimedia system with navy, reverse cam, u connect, HD, etc
tow hooks
trailer brake controler
remote start
4x4 LARIME CREW W/RAM = $ 47k
4x2 LARIMIE CREW W/RAM= $ 44k
------------------------------------------------------
4x4 LARIMIE QUAD NO RAM=$ 43k
4x2 LARIMIE quad no ram= $ 37k
------------------------------------------------------
4x4 BIGHORN CREW w/ RAM=$44k
4x2 BIGHORN CREW w/RAM=$38k
------------------------------------------------------
4x4 BIGHORN quad no ram=$40k
4x2 BIGHORN quad No Ram=$37
In your opnions, is it really worth the extra dollars for the RamBox and 4x4? do the 4x2s really get better gas mileage?
thoughts?
