2009 Sport REN Radio Problem
Hey everyone, love the site and all of the great information posted here.
I have a question that I have never noticed anyone posting about and thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone else has had this happen.
I have a '09 Sport with the REN stereo (uconnect, satellite, 30 gb hdd) and have had it lock up on me multiple times, each time on the same radio station, 98.1. I have taken it to the dealer on three separate occasions for this problem and they have replaced the radio twice. However, the problem is still occurring. Basically, if you have the radio on 98.1 it will lock up and the only thing that will function is the satellite radio and auxiliary jack (have not tried the DVD player or a CD). 98.1 will continue to work but it will not allow you to switch to another station through any method. Once switched to satellite or another source it will work properly but when you try to switch back to AM or FM nothing works. This does not happen very often, maybe once a week. To correct the problem the vehicle has to be turned off and allowed to sit (so it can reset????) for a while and then everything will begin working normally again.
After replacing the radio for the second time and it locking up, the dealer contacted Chrysler and they told him I need to call the radio station because there is a problem on their end. Which I think is total BS.
Any thoughts or tips would be greatly appreciated.

LOL ya um Hello WWWW, Ya my dealer I bought my truck from said your station is making my radio get stuck on well, your station. You have to shut it down or fix the problem and oh ya buy my a new radio. That would work.
What I have found is how cool and quick it will burn a cd on to the hdd, so my wife and I have all of our hundreds of cds in a case and when we put it on the hdd we flip it over. Only takes 4 minutes for the average size cd. So whenever we go out we burn as many cd's as possible. My hd is a 30 gig and I have put at least 50 cds or more and still have 23 gigs left.
Yeah, I had the same thoughts. I'm sure, somehow, I would end up on one of the radio stations promo commercials if I accused them of messing up my radio.
