Oil Filters
It's just about time to change oil in my '09 1500 5.7 truck.
I need some advice about filters.
I have several Motorcraft 820s filters left over from when I had a Ford. Will these work?
What filters could I buy from Discount Auto and Walmart?
Will using other than Chrysler filters affect the lifetime warranty?
Thanks,
Jack

The price difference of mopar vs after market is negligible if you buy through an online discounter.
Oil filter, ram 1500, $5.12 plus shipping but no tax on out of state orders.
I just placed an order for a half dozen.
Best online pricing I've found for most items
https://www.dodgepartsonline.net/dod...ota-parts.html
this one is better on some items and their shipping costs are often lower

Also, I've seen dealership ads for $29.95 oil changes on the hemi's. Have to get on their mailing list for those deals sometimes.
I hear more and more that detailed service records are being required in order prove that proper maintenance and lubrication has been performed when you "brang" it in for warranty work.

I use Fram Filters on my truck. And the cheapest place you can get them is..... You guessed it Walmart!
Additionally they have five quart jugs of full synthetic Penzoil for twenty bucks on sale all the time!!! My local autoparts store doesn't even sell the five quart containers.
You can't get a full synthetic oil change any cheaper than that!
And you don't even need ramps to change it either!
Walmart has offically taken over the World!!!

^ I won't go near fram (I also never ever shop at walmart/sams), they use cardboard endcaps, plastic anti-drain valves, and have small return holes. Subaru switched their oem line to honeywell (makers of fram) easily identifiable as they're now blue, I'm glad I have an entire box of the older/better puroilater built oem filters (they're actually better built PureOne's).
As for our trucks, I haven't been able to find enough information on the OEM Mopar filters to know who makes them. Mopar filters are made by an array of manufactures including honneywell, but I'm still looking for a cut away of the 5.7L hemi motor's filter (I'll update when I find it).

According to what i'm reading, the mopar filters change often to the lowest bider, this sites a bit dated but the heavy duty is a cheap-o fram filter http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...udy-mopar.html
I may cut my filter open after I change next as I have a mopar on there, but frankly I don't trust them not to change it on me without my knowlege. So I guess i'll be running something else.

+1 on the no Fram filters, use motorcraft (made by purolator), purolator classic, pureone, mobil 1, or wix.
