Default Losing oil pressure??

Hey guys I just noticed, (not sure when this happened) but the oil pressure while driving is only 42psi. It used to be 48psi. Can this be attributed to a dirty oil filter? Also I am using a Fram TG-2 filter which has a high efficiency rate. At idle its 25psi. All these numbers are when the engine is fully warmed up.

Should I be concerned?

Also there is about 5000km on the oil and filter right now.

All reply much appreciated!

Monitor it, but I doubt there is anything wrong.

My runs about 42 to 45 at 1600 rpms constant......temp of oil around 195.

As long as the light does not come on you are OK. I never checked mine before but did last night. I was doing almost 75 and had 50psi. Lower speeds of course would have less.

Assume you are running 5W-20 oil as well?

Mine was down to 19PSI at idle. I checked my oil and it was about a QT low (after 1000 miles). oil pressure was back up to 28PSI after I added oil.

So I took the truck to a dealer and got the oil changed. Bingo. Back up to like 50psi. I think it was the TG-2 filter. I think that filter is too restrictive. I am going to stick with Dodge filters from now on if I do my own changes.

Take that POS fram off and use a Wix. They are available at NAPA under the NAPA brand. Nothing but the best for my truck.

the NAPA gold filter is made by Wix, the standard NAPA filters are made by various venders
