Agtermarket floor mats - center seat carpet -??
I have an 09 Laramie Crew with center seat 40/20/40 seating.
Just purchased weathertech digital fit floor mats front and rear. once I removed my factory mats I noticed two big slits in the front center hump carpeting.
Went to the dealer and they looked at the truck and said that they remember a bulletin on it and it is normal from the factory. The manager searched for a while and could not find it.
A friends SLT with Big Horn package did same floormat thing and does not have the cuts in the carpet.
Can anyone advise what the deal is with the carpeting. Anyone come across a Dodge bulletin in regards?

My 2009 SLT Bighorn has the slits. In fact, every 09 QC and CC that I've seen had them. I was told that the carpet is that way because of assembly and that's the way they come (probably BS). I understand from two different dealers that this was corrected on the 2010's
The slits should only be in the 09 CC's. It is actually a carpet flap that you can peel back. Once you peel the flap back, you can see a joint in the plastic ductwork that feeds the air to slots in the center of the back seat area. I guess this is some sort of access point for that duct, even though I don't know why you would need one.
I had this same issue with my 09 CC. I wanted to replace my carpeted floor mat with rubber slush mats. Unfortunately the factory mat is a one piece that covers the "hump", and all rubber mats that i could find were two piece, one for the driver's side and one for the passenger's side. I ended up taking my one piece carpeted mat to an auto upholstery shop and had them cut it into three pieces: driver, center hump, and passenger. They were able to put a factory looking hem on all of the new edges (they charged their shop minimum, $75, for all work). So I ended up leaving the center piece in to hide the slits, putting the two rubber mats in, and having spare carpeted mats in the garage.
Hope this helps.

the slits are "normal" for the '09s. I just left the factory mat in the front to cover them, but i will be trying craig's adea.
thx Craig
Thanks
great idea Craig. thought the dealers were selling me a line, but feel better about it. still cant believe they would have the trucks leave the factory that way.
I will be going to the upholstery shop to have the mat cut into three pieces.
just called my friend with the Big Horn, thought it was an 09, it's actually a 2010. so it must be corrected as stated.
Thanks for the help

My 2010 has the slits in the carpet. I put in the slush mats and will just have to live with the slits.
