Default Can you turn off mds on 09 ram.

I have tried to search the forum but had no lucking finding this. Its is an 09 crew-cab 1500 big horn 5.7hemi 2wd with rambox. built 2/26/09. The truck vibrates when the fuel saver light kicks on and is annoying. Its shakes the seat, steering wheel, pedal and you can hear it too. When its not engaged the truck is smooth no vibrations. So i just want to disable the mds. Dealership said its a problem with all of them and you cant turn it off. Didn't know if anyone has done this or knows how too.

three options.
1. drive with the autostick engaged with it in 5th gear and it will run just like normal but won't let the mds turn on.

2. turn on the tow/haul mode

3. buy a programmer and you will be able to disable it.

I don't even know if my mds works no light, but regardless I get no weird exhaust tones, no vibrations, rattles groans nothing. I even watch the tach for weird movement. Nothing, I put the cruise on at like 50 mph no hills no wind you would think mds right? How do I know? If I don't know I don't want the stupid thing. So I drive using the autostick mds shuts off?

My truck doesn't vibrate or shake anything. I'd bring it back to a different dealership maybe. Sounds like they are trying to avoid doing any work on it. The only difference I notice is when MDS kicks in my muffler changes a tone, that's about it.

Hope you get it figured out, that'd drive me nuts.

My truck runs in mds mode about 75% of the time and I have no issues with vibration,I have the light so I know when mine is on.Like what was posted earlier drive in fifth gear and it won't come on ,but you really should get that checked out.

Well its my fathers truck and he bought it in New Orleans. He did take it to the dealer there and when he come up to visit he took it to the local dealer here both said same thing nothing they can do about it. I never noticed the sound it makes untill he pointed it out to me and now i hear it everytime. The best way i can think of to describe the noise is to a jake brake, just a really quite one. And the shaking is mainly while the mds is engaged around 40-45 and you give it a little gas it starts to vibrate the truck, more in the pedal and steering wheel and stops once the mds kicks off. He was getting !7mpg with mds and now he just drives it with the auto stick or in tow/haul mode and gets 15mpg and says its worth it to get rid of the noise.

I have been wondering about that are we going to have four cylinders that wear out or valves, or springs or that part of the cam early wear since only 4 cylinders are working 75 percent of the time like one poster said? All for 3 miles to the gallon. Man we just took our truck in for its 4 th oil change with only 8000 km or 5000miles. Only because we got it in March last year and we get one every 3 months except the first one was early, I like to see if there is shavings or anything to show the dealer on the first oil change i have had so many new cars and trucks it is just a habit I picked up years ago from a mechanic. I used to the trans and rear end but I have come around I just check that and if it is clean it stays if dirty well change it. Or follow the schedule. Then dealer wants to rotate my tires at 8000 kms. I said I will keep my eye on the wear etc. because first of all you guys dont warranty tires no matter what, she actually agreed. Secondly I don't care about these tires, and if they wear out funny I will have something to show you and you will know where to look for the problem. Anyway I have no pulling, vibration at high speeds or low, so I like the way it drives, I can just see I get them rotated and I will have a vibration for sure or pulling in the steering. This is the first one I bought that I havent had that problem so why try to create it. She said they can check the brakes, I said you can see them thru the wheels, again 6000 kms they just want to make that 20 bucks so badly. I feel bad for them I almost let them......NOT>

Trade ins suck on everything. Don't let them know if you owe money on it then their offer will be real close to that number for sure unless it's almost paid off, but if you put zip down and have a 5 or 6 year loan you wont get what you need.
