Default DVD/NAV/Satellite options.

Has anyone installed a Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT in their truck yet. I was wondering if I should buy this or get the stock Dodge unit with the built in Nav/DVD. I have the radio with the CD/Uconnect/voice control/Satellite radio now but want a full Nav/DVD instead. How is the stock Dodge radio with Nav? Is it worth buying or should I just buy the Pioneer and get the Satellite radio adapter and call it a day. If I did purchase the radio from the dealer can I install it myself or is it mandatory they install it? I wanted to keep it a clean install and the stock unit will use my existing bluetooth/Satellite options. This way I wont need to go wiring a new antenna or mic somewhere. Thanks for the help. Pics would be great also of the Dodge radio and the Pioneer if anyone has installed it. I would be willing to trade also if anyone is interested.

The Pioneer Avic F700BT is rather similar to what you are looking at. I have bought the F700BT for both my wife's Murano and my Ram, I like it that much. The installation is not that hard, just take your time. I always reccommend aftermarket over stock because Pioneer does not make trucks, they make stereos. They concentrate on perfecting their stereos. Installing yourself is a great experience if you can get information. Check my sig for information on the Ram stereo and speakers. Good luck to you.

I plan on putting the Z110BT in my ram as well. I have the same radio as you with mic in the mirror for uconnect.

As far as price goes, it will come to about the same price once you get the adapter for steering wheel control, bluetooth and sat. as it would for the RER with cable to connect to our mic.

The pioneer unit obviously has more features then the RER. The ipod integration is much better. you can track your fuel millage with it was well. From what I have seen, the Z110BT looks like the best nav on the market right now.

Thanks for the input guys. I went to the audio store today to see what is involve with getting this installed in my 2009 Ram. First there is a dash kit that needs to be purchased. The stock radio is wider than the pioneer so there will be 2 small filler pieces on either side of the unit. I don't know how much I like that but it might not look too bad. Second you need a wiring harness adapter. Third if you want satellite you need to purchase a seperate box which is $179.00. I have a contract already with sirius so moving it to the new unit won't be a problem. What I hate is the fact that you get a new satellite antenna with the kit. Is there anyway to use your existing satellite antenna since it is in a great spot and cleanly installed? It would look stupid to have 2 antennas on the roof when one of them wont even be used. Then you have to figure out how and where to run the new wire. Fourth you also get a new mic for the bluetooth connection so there goes the clean look of the mic in the mirror. Where would you mount that? I have installed many Nav/DVD units in the past but never had a truck with all the goodies already built in. So being it is so clean looking with the stock setup is making it a hard choice to install all the extra components and clutter up the truck. Any thoughts would be apreciated......
