Another Tire question
Sorry guys, I know there have been some talk already about tires. Mine is, for those of you that have taken off your wrangler hp, what did you replace them with. I have 20s on my black ram cc, and am looking at changing them out since I just ruined one of them the other night. So what are your preference in tires. I am looking at the wrangler duratrac, cooper zeon ltz, and the bridgestone dueler revo. I would love to stay with white wall lettering, since I don't know for sure if I like the black wall on my black truck. So I guess I am looking for a little help and possible pics from you guys. I am also trying to stay with 20s. Thanks guys for any help.
oyen24, how do you use the truck? Off roading a lot, mainly hwy use, 50/50. Will help people to help you if they know what you're wanting to do. Just some basic info so that you're lead in the right direction. I tend to lean toward blackwall out myself because I don't spend a lot of time cleaning and dirty whitewalls/letters look like hell to me. Same reason I'm not into chrome as well. When my tires are ready to be changed I plan on replacing the wheels with something painted. I will eventually be changing out my grill too. Badges are OK. I like having a clean truck just don't like doing all the work required when having to polish chrome or bleach white letters. Anyway, good luck with the tires and make sure you let us know what you picked, why, and if they live up to your expectations. A bunch of us will be in the market soon for tires as well. Jeff.
jram99 thanks for the advice. I use my truck pretty much 50/50. I haven't added any new chrome either to my truck. I just left it as is with that. As for the white walls, for some reason to me it just makes the truck stand out a little more than the black walls with a black truck. As for using tire rack, I have been on there and read some of the reviews, but didn't really find many of them useful. I had the bridgestone dueler revo on my last truck and loved the tires, so I am thinking that is the direction i am heading. I will keep you all posted on what I get. thanks
while your price searching, look at onlinetires . com.. most of the tires i have looked at are cheaper there than on tirerack.. and the shipping costs are about the same.. if they don't have what you want online then call them. i called them cause they didn't have the ones i wanted listed online and ended up getting a great deal.. paid $265ea for a $300+ tire.. shipping was fast too.. just something to look into..
I replaced the Wranglers with Firestone Destination A/T. The difference is night and day. Smoother, quieter, no sliding around, and handle great. It's like driving a different truck.
And this is an A/T, not the pure street version (LE).
Got a great deal at the Firestone dealer when I took in a quote from a tire warehouse.

I listened to all the rest and JUST got some cooper LTZ's put on my truck. Went with factory size 275/60r20 ? .. anyways .. they are a HAIR louder than stock. and the ride is a BIT stiffer .. but the sidewalls are thicker on the coopers ... which means better handling .. already i see and feel the difference in snow and ice .. night and day ... i had to change out because i travel with children in my truck a few times a week and the stock tires are a death trap in my opinion. In the summer on dry highways they are great, anything other than that and they are JUNK.
I haven't sold mine but they are in craigslist for $350 local delivery .. if i dont sell them i may put them back on in the summer to save the coopers ...
get coopers .. i did A LOT of homework and if you are trying to save money like me but HAVE to replace tires that don't need to be replaced, the coopers are the best bang for your buck hands down.
Good luck.

Thanks allhans, and crisp929, that info helps. Either one of wouldn't happen to have a pic of your tires on your truck would you. I have been really leaning towards the cooper zeon ltz's, but don't know how well I will like the black wall tires on my black truck. I also believe that the goodyears on our trucks are a death trap also. 16,ooo miles and they are about shot. Thanks again guys.
hopefully you have a second set of rims to mount the stock tires to when you put them on in the summer, otherwise you will ruin both sets by mounting and unmounting them for summer and winter. it is not good on the beads to remove tires several times from the rims.
