ok, maybe it didn't dissable it all the way but it did enough that i could spin the tires enough that if i was stuck i wouldn't be a sitting duck.

jason2922 i have read about that somewhere.. i remember something about having to turn the wheels back and forth.. i will have to see if i can find it and post it..

well mine will turn itself off 100% using the method you are supposed to use. We had truck pulloffs in the drive at work yesterday to screw around and with the esp system off message in my evic I could spin my tires as fast as I wanted, which it got to 60mph, and it never kicked in.

it was on solid ice...we have a lot here from the storm yesterday. I beat a 09 chevy 1500 and a 98 gmc but lost to my buddy with his 07 chevy diesel, thats when I was spinning the tires so fast. But like I said, when I shut off the esp 100% by holding the esp button while in 4wd for 5 seconds it completely shuts it off.

Default Thanks everybody

Thanks everybody, good tips.

The "key trick" sounds promising. Thanks tombogue09.

You 4-wheel guys are lucky. 2-wheel drive trucks can't disable ESP by holding the button for 5 seconds. It's not an option.

I read the article for disabling ESP. Wonder if the same thing is available for 2 wheel drive?
http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl...tem/index.html

I tried Partial Off, and it was useless in slick mud. I could peel out for a second only to get stuck a foot or two later again once the wheels went to slow.

I can't believe Dodge didn't take into account ESP for 2-wheel drive trucks when stuck in the mud. I'm scared sh#tless of getting off of the pavement now in my umpteen thousand dollar truck. How embarressing. The shame.

I found this article, where the guy cut into the wires and installed an ESP OFF switch.

http://www.caliberforums.com/forums/...ad.php?t=14952

I realize this thread is old, but wondering if anyone ever got this worked out. I have a 2009 4x4 that re-enables the ESP when I switch between 4wd and 2wd (re-enables either way I switch) and I buried it to the frame on the beach a couple months ago because of it.
