I was having the same problem as you. I soaked all the hinge points with WD40. Has not happened since.

I will keep you informed of anything that happens.

By the way, has anyone installed the running board LED lights yet? I might tackle that soon. Still trying to decide. I am kinda tired of crawling around under the truck after yesterday.
I installed the light kit in my 09 4X4 Laramie. I bought the kit with the Powerstep. I didn't think I needed them , but the wifey said I did.

The add on harness is kind of screwy and was a bit short for me. I ended up incorporating the supplied led harness, (which is seperate) in with the main powerstep install harness. It made for a much cleaner install.

I don't think I would go through the trouble to install the add on led kit after the fact.
The lights look kind of cool, but I wouldn't loose any sleep if I didn't have them.

If you choose to add them, make sure you primer or paint the bare metal where you drill the hole through the pinch seam for the led feed wire. Also add a rubber gromet to the hole to prevent chaffing of the led feed wire.....It makes for a much cleaner installation.

Thanks for the info B.Kaiser. I have the Laramie as well and already have the puddle lights under the mirrors. I was wondering if they really were worth the trouble of installing them or not. Knowing my luck, I would get them on just to short something out and screw up the whole system.

(in reference to steps hanging down)

Just a thought, but my buddy had his installed by 4wheel parts on his CC and has no issues. Could this be due to user install or maybe his just hasn't dropped yet? He's had them on for four months now.

So Jason... what are you sayin'? Just kidding. Who knows? They are a pretty straight forward install with terrific instructions. Unless 4WP did something different from the instructions, they should all be the same. But, you know, what is really cool about AMP Research is that even though I installed the boards myself, everything is still covered under the lifetime warranty. Unlike almost everything else where you have to have the product professionally installed. So far, so good though. One side was hanging down for a little bit today but that probably has to do with the 3 inches of caked on snow that was on the bottom of my truck. We are getting hammered here in the midwest. Glad I have 4 wheel drive. I traded my 300 SRT8 in on this truck and even though I loved the car, it was a death trap in the winter.

LOL, no, i'm just trying to watch out for my buddy. After the price for the kit and install, I'd hate to see his steps falling off He's not a forum kind of person, so I keep him informed on things about our trucks. So when this came up, I was like oh crap. "Hope you didn't spend all that money for a bum product."

Not knocking your install, just looking out and asking the questions

I know man. No worries. I just think there is something to be said for doing it yourself. Even though my wife cringes every time I try to tackle something like this and invariably, something goes wrong. I couldn't justify paying someone $400 just to follow instructions.

This is my first post to the forum, and I figured I could share some of my recent findings on this topic. I was all set to pull the trigger on a set of these steps until I read this thread.

After I saw the the OP's issues were resolved, I contacted AMP to ask when they would be shipping kits for the 9-10 crew cabs with the revised parts and instructions. I didn't want to place an order for the steps and then have to wait for the modified parts or do any modifications myself - my preference was to wait for AMP to make the modifications themselves and start shipping the revised product to their distributors. Their response was to give them three weeks and contact them again. I gave them about 4 weeks, and decided to contact an online vendor, Electric Step for the latest details and potentially place an order. They replied to my initial email with a phone call to fully explain the current status.

The information that I received today from Electric Step was that AMP is in production of the revised kit and that subsequent shipments to their distributors will be of this new version. All of the upgraded/revised components are as per the previous posts in this thread. It turns out that Electric Step is really close to the AMP facilities, and they will be receiving the new kits this week. Based on that, I ordered mine through them today.

I have nothing but good things to say about both AMP and Electric Step. Both were up front about the issue, and were really quick to reply to my inquiries. Based on this, I had no reservations about ordering this product - if any further issues persist, I have every confidence that both AMP and Electric Step would bend over backwards to make it right. I'm sure this is not new, but here is a link to Electric Step, where I picked mine up.

I completely agree with Tulsah. I purchase mine from Electricstep as well and both them and AMP were extremely easy to work with. If ever I had a problem, I had the direct phone number to the engineers and tech support. If I had to do it over again, I would still buy them (though my wife would say something different). They are work well, provide easy access and exit for my kids and, best of all, they're really, really cool.
