I have a 2009 1500 2wd with factory keyless entry. The key fob has the panic button which does work. When I start the truck the LED in the dash comes on then turns off after a couple of seconds. If I lock the doors manually or with the remote the LED never comes on or flashes. Can anyone tell me if this truck has an alarm that just needs to be flashed at the dealership or is there something else I need to buy. I do want to add the factory remote start, will this include everything needed? My window sticker says it has the Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System and I can roll down my windows with the remote but alarm doesn't seem to work. Anyone else had this problem?

 

one way to test, lock the truck with your remote... then use the key to manually open it, after 30 second of locking it... if the alarm goes off, you have it... lol...

When you want to roll your windows down with your remote, you have to press the remote unlock button twice in succession for both windows to roll down. Keep in mind everytime I try this, it takes a couple times for it to work, I don't bother no more...........Kevin.

 

I have the same setup , and the light goes out after a few seconds on the dash, but NO ,I dont have an alarm, devile.has it right, lock the truck with the windows down reach in and open the door with the handle, I bet it wont honk the horn,also I asked ,you cant just have it turned on, I wish, also if you disarm it and then hold the disarm button down again with out releasing it ,the front windows will roll down, not back up though.

 

Dropped by the dealership, they said that it had to come from the factory with an alarm and there isn't an upgrade. Looked through the 2009 and 2010 accessory catalogs with parts manager and no part number could be found for dealer installed alarm. Guess I'm gonna go with remote start since it's available.

 

Whats the going price for remote start?

 

Dealer price was $225.00 not installed. Didn't get a price to install it because I will do it myself. Then they charge you to flash the computer to activate it. One hr. minimum shop charge $99.00.

 

I thought I read someplace that once you install it the truck will not start without the fobs being reprogramed, so you have to have it towed to the dealer.

 

DEI makes the alarm for this dont they ?
