Superchips Cortex = $325 to $375

Yes, Superchips saves the factory setting for re-loading.

Don't know the answer to the recognition question.

i have broke it down between the superchip and diablo predator to purchase. the kid in me says buy it, the man in me says research more because the warranty is not to be messed with. i want a programmer that is worry free when it comes to reloading stock options before taking it back to the dealer for service. i wanna make sure that the computer is FREE of any codes. i want the dealership to know NOTHING....

Initial 2009 feedback copied here from another forum:

I uploaded the 91 Octane tune with the mds off and the speed limiter set at 140.

The roads are very wet out here in Texas right now but i was able to go and do some runs on the highway and all i can say is WOW what a difference all ready and i haven't even started to play with the shift schedules or torque management. Cant wait to work on them hopefully tomorrow.

BTW run the truck up to 115 MPH, no more cutoff at 108.

I have a lot going on right now but will be posting more updates in the near future.

Just so folks are aware, the 09's will have rev limiter, speed limiter, WOT 1-2, 2-3 shift adjustments, MDS Disable, tire size option and the transmission options, which include full up/dn part throttle shift control and full torque management control!!

This feedback was without the USER options set for his part throttle transmission shifts or torque management. Wait until Duane loads his USER shifts and adjusts TM.

Life has been hectic around my place for a bit. Sorry for the delay. 14x27ft concrete slab, cedar cover with gables and such and a new pool all going in. Foundation repair on the OTHER side of the house, busted water heater and a 1yr old boxer wanting to destroy anything he can get his jowels on.

Good times...

Anyways... for whatever reason, MY truck was a problem-child and it took them a couple weeks to get me a tune that would load up. As I write this, the 09+ Hemi folks don't yet have the detailed tranny options. They were delayed, but we expect them at any time. This is the way of Beta...

That being said, I've so far had opportunity to load up 2 tunes. First was plain-jane 87 octane "Quick-Tune". No frills, no options. Just basically the canned install for folks that don't want to have to put any thought at all into it. I drove that for about 75 miles(To/from work).

Throttle response and shift firmness had an instantaneously noticable difference. Lag from when you hit the gas to when the engine actually winds up and goes was almost wiped away. Shift from 1st to 2nd quite a bit firmer. Not "rip the tires loose and fart like a jack-***" firm, but firmER. Noticably.
2 days ago, I actually sat down and went a little deeper with a "Detailed Tune". Still on the 87 octane though as I already had a full tank of 87 when I started. Next tank will be 93 and I'll re-tune accordingly.

Anyways, I set the speed limiter to 140 and max'd out both the rev limiter and 1-2/2-3 WOT shifts to highest RPM. And MDS off, of course. Was in a hurry, so just went for max.
Went out to my local little deserted back-road for a quick run... put it in 4th gear manually, turned off the anti-spin as well as Tow-Haul(Just for good measure), set the Data-Aquisition, and slammed it. If I hadn't laid a thick, single stripe of rubber, I'd probably gotten a little better than the 14.9 that I ended up with.

With the new settings, the throttle response was still awesome, I got the mildest of squeeks from 1st to 2nd and ended the run with a big grin. That damned pansy-*** factory shift is GONE. It now kicks when it shifts like it's supposed to.

NOW, my truck feels like what I would have expected out of "390 horsepower". It's still a dog under about 50mph due to the gears though. The 4.10's with Detroit Locker will be going in soon. That'll turn it into a different truck by itself for certain. Plus, I'm expecting the Volant anytime(Hopefully!)

After gears and intake, a tank of 93octane, performance tune & a little more care in my launch than simply slamming the gas.... I'll be shocked if I don't come in just under 14.00
In my opinion, the difference in throttle response, shift-firmness(Not to mention adjustability), ability to clear 106mph if I so desire and overall butt-dyno... I say it's worth every penny.

I've got roughly a 3rd of a tank left of 87, then I'll fillup with 93 and try out the detailed performance tune and report back. Hopefully I'll have more time and make a few passes. Possibly setting back to stock and making a couple as well for comparison sake. We'll see.
And again, this is all without the nifty, new tranny options. I hear those alone are turning trucks into completely different beasts!
