While I have been trying to decide what to do the rust is spreading like wild fire. I went to a body shop and they claim that the paint was applied to bare metal. They do not believe it was even primed. I am thinking about having the bumpers sanded, primed and sprayed to match the body. That would cost around $700. I also thought about buying chrome bumpers but it sounds like they have similar problems as well. I purchased mine on March 31, 2009, less than a year later and my front bumper looks like the face of a 15 year old after an 8 hour shift working the deep fryers at Burger King. What the heck?

Anyone familiar with the clear stick on bumper covers like these? Good or bad experiences?

they are bsing you all the way. i have the mineral grey color and i have touch up paint for it. so they do have they just dont want to give it to you. mine came straight from the plant though. but its in the same touch up paint bottles i have had in the past. keep nagging on them or go higher up and get someone to get you some.

This is so wild my 98 Dakota had a front painted bumper and bugs splats would cause it to rust, or I should say chip then later rust. They replaced a few bumpers under warranty and just put the same crap back on. So after 3 replacements they decided to prep and paint it with the bumper colour. After that it took a lot more to chip it and it didn't rust right away, they must have metal prepped or used a good epoxy prime under. Amazing they would have issues with bumpers still. Not the same bumper but same issue.

After reading all these posts, I am glad i'm not the only one, but it's really starting to **** me off. I have like 7 dealers in my city, and I have been to 4 of them, and have yet to get a response other than, 'warranty doesn't cover rock chips'... I can't argue with that, however, it is obvious what is a chip that started rusting, vs. rust coming from UNDER the chrome and poking through... I hate how the dealers here are all about money, and nothing to do with service. I just wish I could speak to a Dodge 'Ram' rep, and have him see our trucks... It's bull, I'm dodge through and through, and will not/have not owned anything else. I'd hate to see this rust issue be the turning point to something else...

New member here, just picked up my 2010 Sport. My truck is bright white and I did notice that the paint has tons of flaws in it, dirt, imperfections and tons of orange peel. No rust yet but keeping my eye on it.
