I don't believe (could be wrong) that resonators create any type of back pressure. It's just a straight through pipe with holes that catch resinating waves and cancel them out.

I think you have a different issue going on, but no way to trouble shoot it until you get the stock unit back on. Sucks, but until then, you're just going to play the "what-if" game...

I put a magnaflow 24" on and had both of my resonators removed as well, no issues.

They won't make much back pressure, but any item that causes an air flow interferance will slow things down. Air will get pulled throught the holes and then it has to come back out will disrupt air flow causing some back pressure.

No two engines run exactly the same so what is seen by one as too little back pressure may work on another. This is never more obvious then on motorcycles where many people put on the same intake and exhaust yet everyone has to set the carb jets differently. They SHOULD all be the same, yet can use different nothces and even different size jets to run the same.

Basically, just because it worked on "Joe's" truck, doesn't mean it will work on yours.

Resonators cause turbulance which causes back pressure. As stated above, putting them back on isn't a 100% fix, but it's worth a shot.

Try using the sparkplug foulers at the parts store, you drill one out so the o2 will fit when the two foulers are screwed together, then insert into the bung. Do not touch the o2 sensor with your hands, or other contaminants. Had to do this with my 04 when I put dynatech headers on, fixed the code problem b/c it removes the sensor out of the exhaust stream, if that doesn't do it some will use steel wool in front of the sensor in the sparkplug fouler to further reduce the exhaust on the sensor location. You can find more information probably on the 3rd gen forum I'm sure, do a search with code you have.

Missing resonators did not make the engine light come on.You need to pull the code and see what it is.I have no resonators on mine.Runs good.

I stated in the beginning the dealer scanned the truck and the code is a p0420 code.

I put the super 44 on my 09 hemi and took off the resonator. I have not had any problems and am running 10k miles strong.

Some do it, some don't, same thing when I went through this with the Dynatech headers, some had the issue and others didn't, and dynatech are the people who made the mopar headers, same thing. Either replace the o2 (waste of time/$) or go buy the plug foulers for about $6 and try, and no the resonators will not throw codes, they have no sensors. Its the fact that the system has changed and the sensors are picking up differences than the accepted ranges in the computer, the other thing to do is pull the fuse and reset the computer, and have it learn the system over, if it throws the code go the fouler route.

If you did the battery then you did the same, just b/careful some radios have problems with the battery being d/c like that so they call for the radio fuse to be removed before d/c the battery. If you still get the error code, try the spark plug foulers, buy two at discount auto parts or other local parts store, I'll look for the thread on it and size of drill bit to use, very simple to do.
