Just wondering if anyone has taken off there inside door panel. I am looking at trying something, but in order to figure out what I am going to do to work, I need to take off the inside door panel. I see there are some screws to take out. After the screws are taken out, does the panel just pop out. Any help would be greatful

 

push it up and it will come off.

 

I think you might have to dissconnect a rod from the door handle and you will have to unplug all the wires(goes without saying) you might have to lift up after you get all the screws out up and toward you. It will look like another door panel behind it. Good luck let us know what your up to.

 

Thanks for the input Ryan and 72 combo. Sorry I didn't get back to you guys sooner. My plan is, is I am going to install white underbody neon lights to my truck, then I am going to try and splice the light wires to the wires that light up my door mirrors. This way when I unlock my truck, or open the door, it will not only illumanate by the doors, but also the whole underside of my truck. I just hope it will work. So to double check, all I should have to do is take out the screws in the inside door panel and lift up and towards me and it should come off. I will keep you guys posted, and try to get some pics after it is installed. Thanks again.

 

You better be sure the wiring in the mirrors is not part of the Can Bus system because you will need to find another source. I have my tailgate power lock attached to my window wiring with relays that came with it. I would check out and be careful what you attach to. Did instructions tell you to hook it up to there.

 

Yea I will make sure I know where the wire source for the mirrors come from before I hook anything up, and thanks for the heads up. Never really thought about them being hooked up to a can bus system or anything. I don't want to short anything out or burn any wires up. I have no wiring diagram as of yet. I just ordered the lights the other day. They are just lights that are supposed to go under your vehicle for a decrative look. So I just thought, why not see if I can hook plain white lights up to my mirrors so it lights up the whole underneath of my truck. According to what I was able to read about them, supposedly you can hook them up normal, or you can hook them up to your blinkers, brake, and even your tail lights. So hopefully they will work on my mirrors.

 

So I took my door panel off last night, and it came off pretty easy, Thanks for the help guys. Found the wire hook up for the led lights on my mirrors. Looks like the wiring for the lights, blinkers, power mirrors, and the heated mirrors all runs into a control box. So it looks like I should be able to do the wiring I want without a problem. Thanks again for all the help.

 

Just a suggestion..after you find the power up wire for the lights of your choice, use a realy to energize the power to the under truck lights, do not use the current from the light in the mirror to run the under car lights, even though they convert 12 volts to 110 with a transformer box , they need supply current, so run the wire out of the door and under the dash to a relay ,that has curent from another full time source,such as the battery,and put in a fuse, you wont have ANY problems with that set up, and it will last a long time.

 

Just a comment that may be important - check to be certain that under-vehicle lighting is legal where you live. In my part of Canada it is illegal.

Wouldn't want you to waste a bunch of money and time only to get fined and told to remove it.

That is a good thought, here in Texas if the officer can phisically see the bulb itself it is a ticket, so between the cab we put electrical tape on the bulb, so it wont show the bulb there when it is on,also you cant have red or blue,but all other colors are ok.
