I have an '09 with the floor mounted shifter and I want to replace the handle with a different one. How can I remove the factory handle?

put a slotted screwdriver between the chrome piece and the base of the shift **** itself push the chrome piece down it will seperate then just pull the **** up... it is a kind of a stupid set up and due to the small diameter of the shift lever (about 5/8s) it is hard to find a shift **** that will work properly

 

Are you gonna try to put that nice chrome MOPAR handle. Dealer tells me it won't work.

 

Here's what I want to install. It's not a great picture, but it's a pistol grip handle.

what kind of shifter is that? i'm not really too keen on the shifter myself and have been toying with the idea of replacing it.

 

It's a take off of the Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter they put on the Mopar Muscle cars in the 60's and 70's.

The shifters (and their aftermarket custom ones) for the chargers/challengers will fit.

 

i bought the mopar handle last night...
