Default Sirius

My 1 year trial period is up this month. They sent a bill for $142.00. Same package I already have.
I call them and renew the subscription. When I ask for the total they tell me $179 and change. I ask why its not $142. They say taxes and artist royalty fee or something like that.
I tell them I am already paying for the service and I should not have to pay any extra except tax.
Well now I am not renewing after all.

How can they add this "artist" fee, when we are already paying for the service. They should be paying the "artist fee".
Smart companies would just add it into the cost.

I will miss listening to Howard Stern.

Cant get out of the royalty fee, I asked about this and No go...

I know you stated Howard Stern, so this probably wont help but, oh well..

I opted for the basic Music Only service, and added the Premium quality Internet radio. Total was under $150 or close to I believe.

You can always, just do the music service if the talk radio is not too important.

for me, I figured Dodge put this freakin Black Antenna on my Brand New truck, i might as well use the damn thing... I bit the bullet and just renewed this month...

I dont know if sirius does the same thing as XM but if I cancelled XM they would always call me with the 77.00 a year offer to come back. The royalty thing is just another way to squeeze more money out of it. I remember when bank ATMs were all free too..

I like the talk radio and I didnt mind XM for 77.00 a month + artist fees on my old truck, not sure if I'll pay 142 + royalty for the Sirius though, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Does anyone know if Sirius the 77.00 a month thing or was it just XM?

Default Threaten to cancel

Just keep threatening to drop service and they will keep offering you the promo 3 months for the price of one. I did this multiple times with my third generation Ram. You have to call and tell them you would like to cancel and they will transfer you to another department. The other department will offer you the promo. Takes a little time, but works great and saves money.

I'm on my first round of 3 months for the price of 1. Is it true that if you don't call they automatically bill you for the next 3 months at the normal price? How far in advance to the end of your 3 months do you need to call and say you want to cancel?

Just call when you receive a bill from them. Use that as your reminder. The will adjust the balance due and send you out a new bill or you can probably pay over the phone when they offer you the promo. I did this two times in a row and got 6 months of service for about $26.

I told them just to let mine run out on 16th. I assume they will try to keep me as a customer. So, maybe they will make me a better offer? I hope.
Other wise it's terrestrial radio for me. I listen to both talk and music so the cheaper packages will not work for me.

In reality, satellite radio is a rip off when there is free radio. And its not the same as with TV. Not even close.

To bad they put the antenna on like they did. It's permanent right? If you take it off there is a hole under it I guess?

It is like your cable bill. There are all sorts of broken out "fees". You really can thank lawyers for all of that. Some like to see it, I could care less, I just want to know the bottom line.
